Will be in the area around Thanksgiving.

Looking for a place to rent a boat for the day ... Sea Ray would be nice, but anything would work. Just looking for a good, easy place to deal with. Boats should be reasonably sized (preferably ~22-30 feet).

Thanks in advance.

Anyone...?

Has anyone rented from, or heard anything about, the Best Boat Club & Rental of Ft. Lauderdale, at the Bahia Mar Yacht Center/Marina?

They are right on the south side of Bahia Mar. Some of the fishing boats and the Jungle Queen is there as well if that helps orient. The boats are OK and no better. Prices are fair but you're going to get something that looks like it's been rented 2-3 seasons.

If you want to skip the club membership which is nominal, you can rent from a place that is north of there about two blocks. It is on the SW corner of Las Olas and Seabreeze. Same story on the boats. All of them are 50'ers.

Both places always seem to have boats in so I wouldn't be tense about reservations unless it's during the Super Bowl weekend.

Okay, Thanks.

Just out of curiosity, what is the name/website of the second place you mentioned?
I have been on the Jungle Queen before. The route is great. We would like to do it at our own pace though. Just wanted to look into it a bit in case we're busy doing other things on our relatively short trip, and if I'm not able to get on the internet much.

Thanks again,
Brandon

I just went for a run and ran right by the place. There's just a sign that says Boat Rentals and Fishing. The boats on the northern location don't look to be as nice. Single engine only from what I've seen. The boat club has some decent twin O/B's you can rent. If I was going to run down to Miami or up to Boca I'd probably go for one of those. Dinking around on the ICW it probably doesn't matter.

I'll stop on my next run and get a URL and phone # if they have one. Tom

Thanks a lot Tom, I really appreciate it. The thing is, my dad's not coming on this trip, so it will just be my mom, younger brother, and I (I'm a sophomore in high school). We were just looking for an easy day boat anyway. To be honest with you, my mom has very little boating experience, and I do all the driving on our boat anyway (I have my boaters' license), and I don't have too much experience with twin engine boats. Although I have run a 40 Sundancer before for quite a distance, I don't have much experience docking twin engine boats. Although they say teens think they are invincible, I'd need some real convincing before I took a boat with twins out without dad onboard. ... But it is a possibility. I saw a place on the East Side of the intracoastal (I think) that was called Whalers for rent. They had a great looking 27 Whaler with twins! :wow:

Anyway, keep me posted. I appreciate your help.

My mom and I like the 270 Whaler Outrage with twins. Looks like a great boat to cruise around the intracoastal for a few hours. Do you think I could handle it? Despite my age, I have a lot of boating experience. I have driven our 220 Sundeck before we got our 270 Select EX, and now I am very comfortable with the Select. I have driven the 40 Sundancer, like a previously mentioned. I also work at a local Freedom Boat Club location, with a lot of experience there as well. Hoping to get a job with the local Harbormaster next summer. Anyway, thanks again and let me know what you think.

You'll probably have a hard time renting a boat. Most will not rent <21yo and some are 25yo minimum IIRC. You might be able to talk your way into but I wouldn't count on it. Doesn't always make sense. I'd rather my 19YO daughter drive my boat than my 50YO neighbor that has a triple OB boat but it is what it is. Good Luck.

Hahah yup... Thanks for the input.
Does the person renting (my mom) necessarily have to drive the boat? Hmm... hopefully we'll figure it out!
