How did you guys come up with the name of your boat....

Our parents had started to give my wife and I a lot of pressure that they wanted grandkids. I knew there was a boat show coming up and there was a good chance that we were going to buy a boat. For about a month I told my mother-in law that we were going to have a kid on Tuesday (the date). She would always laugh and say whatever. We go to the boat show and pick out the boat. We do not say a word to the mother in law about it; but when we were taking the boat home we stoped by the mother in law's house. I went in with a box of cigars and said our First Born was on the hitch. She looked at me funny and said you mean in the hatch, and got very excited. I said do you want to see her. She looked really confused and I will never forget the look on her face when she walked outside and saw the boat. Needless to say it took a while for her to even carry on a conversation with me.

We were sitting in a local beach bar when we decided to go ahead with the deal on the new boat. A local band was playing Margaritaville - and we though wasting away again would be perfect. We changed the spelling a little - to wastin' aweigh again.

All three boats that we have owned were named in the same bar - and I am not sure what that says about us...

We are Hawaii buffs. The Big Island.

Hau'Oli is the native Hawaiian term for "happiness" or "joyfulness"

What were the names of the other two?

Stray Cats came from our idea that we are never in the same place for very long...our cat doesn't approve when we leave for the weekend either.

Our's my wife and I found on a piece of Jewlery when we were dating. It's "Nehalennia" Which means celtic godess of the Seafarers represented by the Dolphin. She's a huge dolphin buff and it stuck. Obviously this is our second boat since then

We haven't named ours yet......I'll leave that up to you guys to come up with something we will like. :smt021

Previous boat was destroyed in a marina fire. So this one is 'Fired up!'. Hoping there won't be a 'Fired Up II'.

Wesley,

The first was a F-16 Sea Rayder named "Rumrunner". The second was the 225 weekender named the "Rum Floater".

Always been a believer in naming the boat after the Mrs. We had a work boat as a kid named "Patti Mae", my mom's name. Our current boat is named "Mrs. Robinson" after the Mrs.

Hmm... I thought your wife's name was "Amy". Seems to me that you are really playing it safe with the name and can change out the wife and still keep the boat name here. Great idea!!! :smt018

I have four boys and use to have a Sundancer so we called the first boat Four Suns. As I said before, we did this because "Four Screaming Whining Brats" would not fit on the transom.

I would, however, recommend that you do a Google on any name you want to call a boat first. I found out after I named our boat Four Suns that it means "Total World Destruction" in some ancient Aztec culture legend. Now I know why it storms everytime we leave the dock.

I posted this on the former SRO.......I do commercial hvac and wanted to name the 370 "NO SWEAT" however the wifey poo didn't like that name, so I did some major sucking up and named it after the MRS. can't go wrong there.

Dave you'll have to give us more info about you, the admiral, kids and maybe some other hobbies of yours so we can churn out a great name. You deserve one!

I read somewhere, probably on SRO, to take a look at race horse names. They are usually very creative and can find something you and the fam can relate to. Were toying with: Never Enough, Just for Now, Pier Pressure and Don't Panic (written upside down, cheesy, yes I know).

Since I share my surname with a certain British secret agent, mine should be obvious...............(thanks again Todd!)

You guys from SRO named ours when the Admiral saw someone's suggestion posted.... I think that was you Dave?.... and we ended up owning "Offroad Dancer".
