So not sure what happened but I'd like to be able to preliminarily check a few things and get some feedback.
Me and wife were out in water yesterday going our normal cruising speed(about 3k on tach) and th boat just died and stopped. Was able to start it again but after trying to get up to cruising speed it just died again. When I'd turn the Key it would try to turn over, but not start, then when I'd turn key the next time I'd get nothing at all. When battery selector switch was set to 1 I'd get no radio power, when set to both or 2 I'd get radio power. Had to get towed back. Also, battery voltage gauge seems to read ok...think it was at 16-17. My guy who did the wintrization and storage did say he noticed the battery was a little low. I made sure I kept an eye on the gauge and, like I said, it was at 16-17. A few points and I'm sure they are not related but might be good to know. Had my radio installed/wired at the end of the season last year. Also noticed around then that once in a while boat would barely move when tach was at 3k....when tach was at 5k+ it was going normal cruising speed. This was an intermittent problem ....not 100% but think it was only when radio was on. Could radio wiring cause the boat to die like it did? Always turn battery selector switch off when leave boat. I'm going to get meter and check batteries today. One I bought last summer. Thanks a lot for Any input.

BTW if anyone can recommend a good marine electronics/electrician in the South shore Long Island area that would be great.

If the alt is putting out 16-17 your frying the electronic ignition not to mention boiling the batteries dry
