My neighbor is a retired phys-ed teacher current part time mayor and might be a boat hater. Now next door lets call him Bill has lots of time to take care of the yard and surroundings he still owns a pair or those hand trimmers and will spend hours hand trimming. Now mind you I do appreciate the fact that he keeps his yard nice and tighty. Now with this said he has this darn maple tree at the corner of his yard that the only way to trim it would be one cut about 4" above the ground. Bill and I have had many talks about this tree over the years and He sees the fact that it is getting out of hand. I believe that He thinks that if he lets this tree get big enough that it will force me to keep my boat some where else. Over the years my boats have got progressively bigger and I think this boat has brought him to the breaking point . Bill's remark when I brought the boat home was that it blocked his view. Now to get around the tree I have started backing the boat into its parking place. The only way to solve this problem the way I see it is to get a bigger boat

Are you parking your boat in the front yard? Is it an eyesore to the neighborhood? Is that his problem?

Blocking his view of what?
Is the tree hanging over & hindering the use of your property? I had a similar issue with a neighbor, I gave him a week to fix it. He refused, I cut the tree down & used it for firewood.

Assuming that the tree poses no danger to your property, and there are no local regulations about where you are parking your boat, What is the problem?
If the tree is on his property & the boat is on yours, both of you should find something else to worry about.

Sorry but I'm on the side of I hate boats on residential property even during the summer months. (Trailers, blocks) as much as I love boats I think they ruin the landscape. It would never pass in my neighborhood. Anyone around here that trailer their boats usually rent a spot at a local yard. I know I'll get some flack but that's my opinion. I also love how everyone says get a bigger one, what if the mayor next door loved rusted old cars and put them on the side of his house for eveyone to see and you where pissed? Maybe he should start to collect big trucks?

The sight of my Sea Rays definitely improves the look of my neighborhood ... it has wheels under it ...unlike some of the cars and just like some of the homes

I have a bigger boat if you want it!!

I had a similar situation with my dock. I fixed a big spot light up on the bank and now when it comes on it lights up my entire dock. Next door (down river) in a floating home came by and asked if I would turn off the light as it interfered with his scenic view up river. Being a good neighbor, I turned it off.

One day while working on the dock I was getting after folks coming down the slough on step when it is a "no wake zone." My neighbor showed up stating that I should not get after folks as they know where I am at and I could get a rock through the window of my truck. Now I am thinking he is the neighborhood busy body. I got a little heated and asked him to leave my dock. While he was leaving I stated folks tend not to mess with my stuff as they most likely will get shot. That night I turned the light back on.

Haven't heard or had any issues sense then!

Boats, RV's and junk cars don't cut it in our 'hood either. 48 hours is the max then they have to be moved or the COVENANT NAZI comes knocking on the door. I'd rather have it this way than let things go to hellin a hand basket.

When I had trailer boats, I have always been lucky enough to be able to be able to fit the at the side of the house.

And at our current house behind a 6' fence and an 8' gate, which kept prying eyes out.

The down side though was our Labrador when he was a pup.
3 sets of trailer wiring........which I did not appreciatte at 5am when hooking up to go fishing!
1 x propellor guard
1 x charge lead for the batteries (12v from the garage to the boat)
1 set of mudflaps

And I am sure he was sussing out the tyres !

Oh I forgot to mention I do kind of have another boat sitting in my driveway. It's my sons Christmas gift . But my neighbor doesn't know that .

All in all I do have a good relationship with my neighbor and would never do anything to hurt that. But I don't think he was to happy with me or his wife when she asked me to take her for a ride on my beemer.

When I owed a house, I made sure it was way out in the country so I would have to deal with homeowner associations. My land and piss on anyone that wants to tell me what to do with it or what I place on it.

Now, that I am soon to be a live aboard, I can park my boat in my front yard......which by the way is always flooded to accommodate my Yacht!!!:smt038

Our boats are at home Nov 1st through May 1st. We have boat ports but own an acre of yard, have few neighbors (dead end road) and they extend the life of our boat covers. Just got tired of pushing snow loads off the winter covers. This is very cost effective and makes summer truck/car covers to boot. Our good cars stay in the garage, Mike.

9ft beam really looks 8'6" so I always tell myself! 12ft boat port width makes parking not so bad. Big turnaround helps! I can walk the bow and not hit my head plus some room for the radar dome coming this Spring. Still need to level the parking pads a bit!
