Boat Cracking!!!

So Wes... Are you saying that Cr0ck's crack may have a neglect issue and Sea Ray won't touch it?

MM does not have internal glass guys, they sub it. and, the people they sub it to are very good (at least they were on my boat).

They are very busy over there. However, I have generally had very few issues with service.

And, don't rant and rave about how it's brand new, yada yada. So are 10 million other's people's boats that are calling them.

You also can call your salesman. They generally can help you out, if nothing more than to go grab someone and have them call you. That route has worked for me before also.

it is probably just a void, it could be so simple as to inject resin into this area to solve it

I know you are aggrevated over your new boat problem, but remember they might be dealing with people who CANNOT use thier boats.

Safety first
people who cant use thier boats 2nd

cosmetic issues where people can use thier boats- last.

I am not saying this is what happened at all but since this is the storage compartment how does SeaRay determine if it was a boat defect or something that a person keeps stored in there (like a large cooler or anchor, etc) that after going over wave after wave, getting grounded, and then pooped on by a bird, that could have caused the crack (ok the last part I was talking about you but just my bad sense of humor). But Crock1 I am really not talking about you, you mention water damage, but I am curious how they would be able to tell a difference between a crack from poor workmanship and crack from neglect.

i do keep a cooler on that side but do not keep that spot soaking wet. its made to get wet.. its a boat..! its a full crack across the length.. and even if i soak it all day.. it should still not crack like that and come apart... and btw the bird poop was funny. lol

Crock again I was not talking about you, I was really trying to get a understanding of how Sea Ray can determine if it is defect or neglect of user when they do their evaluation. Again remember I am not talking about you, but just to clarify what I was saying. Let's say the cooler or object that someone would keep over there during the bouncing caused a crack. Would that be Sea Ray's responsiblity due to defect or is that neglect? That is all. Good luck with it!!!!

He did do a fine job of handling my cr0ck's crack wise crack.

crock - did you hear back from MM yet? I got my service done thru the Tampa MM and they did a great job. I had a few spider cracks, etc. that they fixed for me when our warranty was ending last month. They did a great job, cleaned the boat, vacuumed the carpet, and washed my canvas. They did all of my warranty work within a week.

Let us know...

I sent an email over to my salesman.. and what do you know.. the next morning i get a phone call.. telling me to bring it in on monday!.ill keep you all posted on how it goes.

Ok dropped it off today.. funny how when i got to mm the crack got bigger.. its actually crawling down twards the engine. So they said to call them on friday. They said they need to get the approval for the repair.. They better not say its my fault.. 5 months i had the boat brand new.. lets see what happens.

Oh yea they said its an 8-10 hour job.. SURE IT IS.. LOL.. covering their butts incase they need to charge me.

Well... I tried to post a response but it magically appeared in another thread...

BUG!

I dont want to hijack the thread but Is the cracking common? I just heard today about an 3 month old boat having some cracks and spider marks. I am fairly new to boating (3yrs) and looking to get a Sea Ray in replace of my Bayliner and I was told Sea rays crack and have cosmetic issues frequently. I really want a colored hull but if there are cracking issues it would look even worse.

Well i went to mm today.. and they were completed with the repair.. they took the whole piece of fiberglass out and replaced the "foam" under it.. the whole starboard side looked brand new.. i told them that im using my deatail coupon also.. so ill pick it up when its all done being detailed. they told me call them on monday cause the detail guy will be doing it then.. Ill keep you all posted to see if they have the nerve to give me a bill.. lol
