Boat Covers

Just finished the cover for my 88 Bayliner Capri 1750 cutty cab. I only made it to cover the cockpit area to the spashwell. It also has snaps all the way around to secure it. Now I'm looking at other projects to do after I get my Searays tilt to work, theres always something to do with that boat.

Thanks - appreciate it. I am in Minnesota. I currently keep the boat in the garage during the summer - and I store inside a shop during the winter.

However, during storage I do want a cover on it and it will also give me the current option to keep the boat hooked up to the truck and leave outside overnight if we plan on going out the next day even if there is a chance of showers overnight or something.

I hate the big box store general boat covers - had one on my last boat and did exactly as you said. Not sure if these custom ones that I mentioned above are any better? Seems they run in the $300-$600 range compared to $80 at a big box store.

Anyone know of approx. cost of installing snaps to the boat then buying a snap cover for the bow and cockpit? Thanks everyone - this forum is great!
Since you store inside you may not need any cover depending upon the cleanliness of your shop. For many years we owned a Boston Whaler that we stored on a trailer outside of our implement shed. We kept a cheap plastic tarp over it and held the tarp in place with some pieces of oak firewood around the base. We could not see it from our house because our lot is several acres and we did need to consider esthetics. Also this BW did not have upholstery to worry about so we just hosed it out in the spring and it looked brand new again. If your shop is clean, why not just buy an inexpensive painter's tarp to keep the dust out of it?

For my last 2 boats I bought Carvers from Boat Covers Direct. Couldn't be happier.

One was a semi-custom, for the size and beam of my boat. The last was a Custom, specifically built for my Boston Whaler. I even supplied them with a pic of the install, and got a $50 rebate for them to publish it.

I don't like snaps in the hull, and the straps don't bother me. I have used the last cover for 2 cross-state trips at highway speeds and it has performed flawlessly. 100% waterproof even at 65 mph in the rain. It covers EVERYTHING, including the outboard.

It looks pretty cool, man, it looks like it fits the boat perfectly. But I wonder how much it costs. I also want to find a suitable one. Is the size of my boat smaller than that? I wonder if I can find the right one. You see the product from there, everything is okay. I will decide right after hearing from you. Please reply to me

The cover for my Whaler was a custom fit model. If they don't make one for your specific model you would need to go with a semi-custom. Mine cost about $400 with the extra straps, etc. The boat in your signature is bigger. Go to "Boat Covers Direct", select your particular boat model, and they will direct you to all the available options.
