boat advice please 09 250 slx

Hi Guys, new to this so if this question can be answered somewhere else please point me in the right direction. I just made an offer on this boat http://bjmarine.net/boats/used/boat-details.php?BoatID=590083 which has been in stock since 2009 and has 0 hours never been in the water. Should I be wary of it or are there any issues I should consider or look for. the boat is immaculate but I worry about an unused engine and electronics. Also it doesn't have a windlass , should I install one do you think. the head is vacuflush thank goodness! Also do you know if I can purchase the double bimini from anywhere as my family need shade most of the time we are out? And one last question do you know if I can upgrade the exhaust system to through hull? and if so can you direct me somewhere to buy it please. Thanks for your patience, Tom

Great Lakes Boat top is the canvas supplier for Sea Ray http://www.greatlakesboattop.com/ and you should be able to purchase the factory supplied bimini canvas directly from them, I don't know if they also supply the frame rails so you might want to call and ask them.

I wouldn't worry about either the engine or the electronics. Your Mercruiser engine/outdrive warranty starts when you buy the boat no matter what year the boat is. As far as a windlass goes, that's up to you. I imagine it has a 25 pound plow anchor on it. I have the same anchor on my 260DA and I don't have a windlass and after six years living with it, I kind of wish it had one.

Thanks Dave, great info. I will check out the link and see if they can deliver to me out here in Malta. Warranty info is super so I will check with the dealer tomorrow to see what he says. I have offered and had accepted a 40% below asking price and he was pretty annoyed with me but has accepted the offer but will not antifoul at his cost or prep the boat for sea. I am ok with all that as I am saving 30k euros which is great but I don't want to loose the warranty. Many thanks for replying, I really appreciate it. Tom

I Bought an 09 left over no worries with anything the warranty start when boat is commissioned the only thing that may void manufactures warranty would be the Corsa exaughst if not installed at factory or as factory upgrade I would check into that before I add thru hull exaughst Good luck with you boat.
