So my wife wants a houseboat! I love our cruiser and would rather upgrade to a 420DA but we found a Bluewater that has piqued my interest. This will be an Ohio River boat and we plan to keep our 185 Sport for knocking around on. The BW is older (1993) and the interior is "dated". I am going to take a look tomorrow. It has twin diesel inboards with 1200 hours. Haven't even begun to dig in to the ownership history and service records yet bit at first look this vessel look extremely clean and well cared for. Does anyone have any experience with this type of "cruiser/houseboat"? These and possibly Pluckebaum are the only houseboats I would consider because I really just don't like the lines on most others. Thoughts?

My concern about these size boats is single handling them. They're much more difficult to dock, especially if you're on your own and there's wind or current in the mix. I love the interior space for sure but if you find the size and inconvenience of captaining the boat keeps you from using it as often then it'll just be a nice condo. We have several big boats on my dock and, without a doubt, my boat is the favorite to take out for a ride. So easy to maneuver and you're not isolated from the water.

Of course the living quarters is smaller and darker.

Just my opinion of course based on the way we like using our boat.

There are a bunch of them around here used as charters. A couple for private use. I've seen charter captains spin these things on a dime and park them with their eyes close.
They seem to hold up well with the typical charter abuse.
