Blue Angels May 20 2015 USNA Annapolis

Tell them I said hello. On second thought.......don't. The guys (gals?) flying today weren't even born when I was the Blues aviation support officer!!!

damn I'm old!!!!!!

David,

I sent you a PM, but didn't get an answer. Were you with the Blues (A-4s) with Gil Rud or Bruce Davey, or Greg Woolridge (F-18s)? All former squadronmates...

I am planning on going as long as the weather is good. Does anyone know what time the show is on the 20th?
Thanks!

I did some additional searching at the USNA and found this.

I was thinking about going the 19th for the practice. I've never been though. How close can you get to the Naval Academy?

If I can only make it for one day, I like going for the practice day. Sometimes the routine is a little longer if they repeat some maneuvers a few times and there are usually not nearly as many boats as for the graduation performance the next day -- of course the real determining factor is the weather.

I believe the down-river safety boundary is from the south sea wall of the academy across the Severn (right across or near the Green & Red can "SC") to Greenbury Point. It is pretty cool if you are anchored in the middle of the Severn and the planes are literally flying right over you. If the CG hasn't published this year's rules you should be able to find articles from pervious performances on line -- the boundaries haven't changed in many years.

The boundary this year is from off Chinks Pt., which is the southern point of the mouth of Back Creek, to Greenbury Pt. (The point of land itself, not the mark. It does have another boundary to the sea wall that closes Spa Creek completely, but does give a little room to squiggle out of Back Creek ( you have to turn south immediately after the entrance mark)

No, get out into the Severn River so they can fly OVER YOUR BOAT, good times! I can't upload pics or vids, or I'd upload last year's videos, they flew directly over my boat... Awesome!
