Well I decided tonight to bite the bullet and see how good the Stainless Steel Hinged Plow Anchor 15.5lb (7 Kg) at Marinedepot.com is.

I know there are the skeptics here and I agree that the 316 is better than 304, but for the price I'm not much at risk and I need an anchor. The Plow style will fit my bow roller and since I don't anchor too often, I'm hoping it lives up to my expectations of simply not looking like a rusty nail.

I also bought the 316 Anchor swivel they have.

I want this hook for the upcoming trip in July. Marine Depot states that they have this same anchor coming in August in 316 but I'll see how this one does and like I said for the money, I'll take the risk.

On the other hand, I also have on order the DSC GX1500S Standard Horizon VHF with the remote station MIC flush mount kit from www.boemarine.com

~ STANDARD QUEST-X BLACK VHF RADIO GX1500S - $139.00
~ STANDARD CMP25 RAM + BLACK F/ QUEST + MATRIX QUANTUM $89.00
~ STANDARD MMB-84 FLUSH MOUNT F QUANTUM QUEST-X MATRIX $19.00
Subtotal: $247.00
Shipping cost: $14.61

Total: $261.61

I bought my GPS from Jim here at BOE and they are great.

Sure is Purdy Todd! If it works as good as it looks you'll be good to go.

Think it will stay that pretty once it's been used a few times?

Well that's the part that I'm not sure. It's 304 not 316, but the price also reflects it. It was $189.00. I don't want a rust machine hanging off the bow, but for this price it's worth a try. Other similar ones of "Name Brands" are in the high $300s to mid $400s. We'll see

Mine is the factory galvanized one... Started looking a bit orange over the winter. I went out last weekend and with the water around me at flood stage and the current pretty quick so I took it out for a drag. I was trying to set anchor in very loose sand and the anchor wouldn't set, so I let it drag for about 500 yards... When I pulled it up it was all shiney! Went back to the dock and waxed it later in the day. We'll see how long that lasts.
