Sure had a GREAT 50 B-Day up there on the restaurant balcony!!:smt119

Nice videos, what fantastic water! We have nothing to compare here on the West Coast. The water is way too cold here to think about swimming in the ocean. Swimming in the Delta starts in June at the earliest and is too cold by October. Southern California water is a bit warmer but not much.

Randy, Glad to see you active again on CSR, I enjoy your posts. Great vids!
I'm impressed you were getting SOG of 10..4 mph @ 1250rpm towing the boat and heading into the Gulfstream. What do your Cats burn at under those conditions?

Hi Art and thanks.

I was wondering if someone was going to ask me about that last video. A few years back, I started to run slow to Bimini when other boats weren't going with me or when towing the McKee Craft. I would start in the middle of the night and get there before 9:00. My guests would sleep the night away and I would count stars and look for other boats (thank goodness for AIS). Not taking the gulf stream into account, my boat will do about 21 MPH @ 2,250 RPM with a fuel burn of about 30 GPH. That's with the genny running (see video below)

At 1,250 RPM, I get about 10 MPH with a burn of about 9 GPH. The savings is dramatic. I'm going half as fast but burn 70% less. I can go to Bimini and back 3 times with one tank of fuel. It's cool arriving in the Bahamas and having your fuel tank needle over 3/4.

Not sure it is to early to talk about that but since it was asked. How about Memorial Day weekend. I would either go Thursday or Friday and come back Monday morning. I would either leave from Ft Pierce and run straight there or maybe go down to Ft. Lauderdale or West Palm Thursday night and leave from there.

... Memorial Day is usually the first opportunity of the season but anytime is great for Bimini....

Nice videos, Randy. I hope you guys form a nice CSR Rendezvous. This is definitely on my radar, but not this year.

A quick question, why the Memorial day, does it mean that in April (during spring break) is too cold or is there another reason?

Because it is spring break and all the half naked college chicks are here, don't want to miss that. Only kidding. March and April can still have north/northeast winds and it may be ok but then again it could be 6-8' seas. Usually by May things have calmed down but it really is a crap shoot. For last minute decisions, March April is fine but for long range plans that involve other people, I would try and keep it at times when the weather is more likely to cooperate. Remember, I did say more likely to cooperate, sometimes it doesn't.
