Anyone know who the OEM supplier was/is for bimini poles & hardware on a Sea Ray sport boat from '01 ?
Have it off for the Winter & noticed a few rivets loose. These are easily sourced locally but I may replace a couple knuckles/hinge points & like to get OEM.
The adjuster pin seems loose & I'm thinking it may have had a PVC/plastic cap on it as new.

Getting cabin fever already.
3 kids all off at university. No basketball,no hockey, no rowing,no basketball, no fencing, no hockey. Just Jane & I at home with the cat & the dog. We're used to running full bore all Winter long with the kids activities.
Eldest on the water today at Head of the Charles Regatta. Placed 14th of 50 in the men's 4.

Cheers,

Cheers,

On my 2008 and 2009 SR's they are both TACO parts (www.tacomarine.com) - I bought a Ball and Socket upgrade kit for spares that has Top Caps, Deck Hinges and Jaw slides in it.

Do you have the "fork" design where you, in essence, push the retaining pin through three holes? Or do you have the ball and socket (there were two styles of these, by the way).

I honestly wouldn't worry about trying to source the same as the OEM supplier (I'm not sure who the "fork" design was, but Kaz is correct that the ball and socket was by Taco). Just get what you need locally, by any manufacturer, to fix what you need.

What do you mean by the "adjuster pin"?

Hi Dennis,
Looks like I have the "fork" design. Had a better look at it this afternoon. All the rivets are loose to some degree, a few ready to fall out. The hinge points look OK, once fastened securely I should be good to go. "Adjuster pin" was what I came up with for a lack of words. Saw it listed as a "valco spring" today. Piece of flat spring steel, bent like a "U" with a pin on one end. Once inserted inside a tube, the pin will lock two poles into a given position where the adjustment holes overlap.
Rivets are a local item, I'll order them in the AM.

"Locally" can be a relative term. Everything available but not much stock on hand.
Working on a site last month that involved install & commissioning of a new UPS/Inverter unit. 4 hr. drive from here. Had the factory tech. on the phone & he commented on being at the remote site. He's in Toronto. Told him I was so far out in the woods even the deer & rabbits don't live out this far. You have to come in towards civilization to hunt ! He had to put the phone down as he hadn't heard that one before & had quite a chuckle.

Adjuster... gotcha... I thought that's what you might have meant but not sure. No, there was no plastic part to it. There's always a little play in those and possibly the holes are slightly enlarged now from years of use. Once the bimini is opened and tightened down, it takes the slack out and the rattle goes away. You can get new ones from Mcmaster Carr. I got a new one for my Shurhold washing brush handle directly from Shurhold - same thing.

"Deer and rabbits"... Nice one!

Have it all apart & canvas will also get a cleaning.
Question:
Were the fittings secured using set screws or rivets as OEM ??
Drilled out all the rivets on mine & found many of the castings were threaded for a set-screw. There are matching holes on the tubes for the rivets.

Usually rivets. But using screws is perfectly acceptable.
