Bilge pump in center storage compartment on 270 SLX

It should be on a float switch. However if it is like other SLXs, the water level required to kick the switch on is higher than you probably want. I have an inspection port in front of mine and after rains I reach in and turn it on by hand.

Mine was the float switch -- paddle. The darn thing won't turn on until there is an inch to 3/4" of water then leaves about a 1/4" -- has to do with the pump losing prime. This is the case with all bilge pumps.
In my opinion Sea Ray did a rotten job with the design of that locker. Should be completely enclosed with all rain water going to the bilge. Your anchor locker drains into the ski locker -- PIA.
Good luck

ya, I was just cleaning my ski locker yesterday because of all the rain. Tons of dirt and grime to clean out and I have to start from the front and wash all the way back via the locker and then the rear. It sucks.

I do not understand the drains on the smaller sea rays. I had a 260 sundeck and the deck drained to the bilge. Neighbor has as 250 SLX and the darn ski locker stays full of water.

when I sold my 260 Sundeck I looked at he 240 sundeck outboard and the darn deck and everything else drained to the bilge.

Bad move on Searays part

Our 210 SD starts with a drain from the anchor locker into the ski locker. Ice box up front drains there too. Ski locker will drain into the bilge once the plug is removed. Access to the plug is via a 6" round hatch/opening on the floor, beside the driver's seat. Bilge pump in the engine bay takes it outside.
I questioned the purpose of the plug from the ski locker. Sea Ray stated the plug is there to prevent engine fumes from leaving the engine bay & travelling forward.

Why not drain everything overboard? If you leave your boat on a lift it is hard to drain the water every time

I was curious about the ski locker plug also. Maybe in case you have to rescue a dolphin or something?

On the newer "Quiet Ride" boats the ski locker is sealed from the engine compartment and there is no drain just a bilge pump. Float switch is so high you get standing water in ski lockers regularly. Fuel tank is located below so it is hard to design a deeper sump for the ski locker pump. Sea Ray needs to rethink this setup in my opinion.

This is is old post but for what it is worth I bought a drain plug to keep the rear bilge water out of the ski locker. That should keep it cleaner. Just buy a one inch drain plug.

This is an old thread and I read it, but has anyone been able to fix this? I think the ski well on the quiet ride is closed off. I have enough water in the well that makes all of the tubes, boards, ropes etc slimely.

I got your private message about this. Mine does the same thing. I've noticed it helps when storing the boat to leave the ski locker open to help it air out. Also, every few times out I'll open the ski locker and let her sit in the hot sun like that for an hour when the boat is docked. There is not much that the hot Texas sun can't dry out.

My 2011 SLX 250 storage bilge has stuck in the on position. I assume I can access and clean or replace if needed?

Yes, all your bilge pumps must be accessible for troubleshoot/fix/replace.
pull back the matting and you should be able to either unscrew or just pick up paneling. float is probably jammed and not able to fall. good luck.
