I have a 230 Sundancer from 1994.
The bilge pump won't run, even if I start it manually on the switch.
I can take another +12V and put on the switch, and then it will run.
The manual say's that there is a fuse near the battery (or in the bilge) but I can't find it.

Can you help me locating it?

Sea Ray normally uses a resettable circuit breaker for bilge pumps.......look for a panel with a big red button on it labeled "bilge pump", rather than a fuse holder.

In a very high number of cases, bilge pump problems are due to a bad connection where the switch, pump and power source are connected with butt splices. Try cutting out all the but splices and replacing them.

On my 95 230 there is an in-line fuse (red wire) right next to the battery... it then connects directly to the pos side of the battery along with the heavier starting cable and runs directly to the bilge pump. This is so the automatic float switch will come on even if the switch is off. Don't know if this is standard or not since I got the boat used.

The only cables connected to the battery are the heavy "starter cables" going to the battery switch placed in starboard side under the steering wheel.
I have been:
- all over the switchboard,
- all over in the engine room

I can't find a curcuit breaker or a fuse??

Next step must be to dismount the bilgepump and the flow switch for closer inspection

I still haven't found the fuse.?:smt089

Isn't there any other 230 sundancer owners who can solve this little problem?:smt001

Or better yet: Is it possible to get a wiring diagram for the model?

Maybe someone will be able to help but in the meantime, you may want to contact Sea Ray about the location of the fuse. Here is the link to "contact us" on their web site. http://www.searay.com/contact_sea_ray_17_34_feet.asp?cid=1729

Hey Dave

I have allready done that..:smt024 , and is still waiting for an answer.

I'm a skilled marine engineer, and don't want to dismantle more than necessary , in order to solve the problem.
My biggest problem is to follow the wire from the switch in the dashboard over to the battery switch and further on down to the bilge pump. All wires are stacked together wrapped in protected plastic cover and nicely tightend up with straps.
It's impossible to see whats behind the battery switch without dismantle quite a lot.

Problem finally solved...!

Sea Ray couldn't help me with diagrams but they tried with a loaction. :
Quote from Jerrys, Sea Ray, mail to me:

Here is the note that I got from the factory, hope this helps;

There should be a 5 amp fuse. If the boat has a bilge breaker box with optional hour meter the fuse will be in the box. Either way it shows it should have been located on the port fwd bilge bulkhead.

I searched again and finally I found the fuse in starboard sides wiring bunch between the engine and the fuel tank.
So now it works again.

Have you had a chance to see if it's there?

Sorry, Nehalennia, I don't understand that question? :smt001

I found the fuse, as decribed in my last remark, but in starboard side..!
