I will be buying an Xtreme heater soon and was wondering best place to put in engine bilge? I want to keep it in there year round but keep it in a place that still allows me to move around in the bilge.

Also, what is best method to install the heater to the surface? Can you actually screw it in without causeing damage or leaks? Or should you glue a layer of wood to the surface and then screw the heater into wood? Appreciate feedback.

Not sure what place would be best for your 260DA, but in my 240SD it is in the far back port side, pointed toward the engine. It is attached using screws and sealant. Side not make sure you plug your vents when you leave the boat or all the heat will escape through them.

I made a shelf for in front of the engine, painted it and screwed it down.
I then found a Rubbermaid bin that fit the space and screwed it down to the board/shelf. It holds my jumper cables, spare props, prop wrench, spare oil, and a few other things. It's secure so won't interfere with the engine and I can remove it all if I need to.

You could do something similar and mount your heater there. What ever you do please take pictures and share them.
