Biggest Trailerable Sundancer?

Interesting thread. All I know, is I sure would not want to try and back a 330 or 340 down a launch ramp, and/or maneuver that thing around the craziness of a bunch of other boats trying to put in :)

Put the "Wide Load" sign on and EVERYBODY gets out of your way!

Been doing a lot of research regarding towing capacity of my truck. I can tow about 15k with a 5th wheel. So That limits me to 290DA, 290AJ, 300DA, and maybe 310DA (all depends on fuel, and stuff). Need to hit the local used sea ray dealer to see these boats in person. The beam in the 290DA is 10.2 and 310DA is 11.2, Any of those will be a BIG step up from my '89 220DA. I'm looking at models around the year 2000 to stay in my budget and weight limits.

Going from a bumper hitch to a gooseneck makes a HUGE difference. Goosenecks put the weight where it needs to be and makes steering and stopping more better. Plus you can turn tighter. Given a choice, I'd rather use the gooseneck over a bumper hitch anyday.

Just an FYI...most people SEVERELY underestimate the load they are trailering.

Recently, I put my truck, trailer and boat on a scale (both vehicles had just gotten a full load of fuel)...

The combined weight........

24,000 LBS!!!!!

That puts my 2006 290 at about 14,000 lbs (+ trailer weight (2.5K) + truck (7.5K)).

I would assume that your 330 would weigh a bit more than my 290.

You are absolutely correct! Brochure weight on my 330 is 12,500lbs dry weight. Well we all know that the boat is only "dry" when new, that being said, we then add for fuel, water and supplies I added 1000lbs because I always towed with very little fuel and water. One item that I did not make clear was that you need to add 2500lbs or so for the trailer like you indicated. This was within the towing limits of the trucks that pulled the rig.

Beerman,

That way too much boat for a regular hitch. Hopefully the burb had weight distribution hitch. I'll stick to the 290-310 range. gas more affordable :D

I think this must be one of the largest. Going to need a pretty big truck!
