Better fill 'em up-Fuel prices

You wouldn’t think that trip would justify the savings…. Unless you are looking for an excuse to take a boat ride

30ish miles each way....and Chicago is easily $1/gallon more. Some of these guys have to back down the aisle and then can barely fit in the fuel dock... it is fun to watch.

Non Ethanol from Quik Trip just N. of Atlanta is 3.69. Been at that price for awhile.

Filled up my truck the other day. Non ethanol.

So if you were buying 300 gallons
Michigan @$4. = $1,200
Chicago @$5. = $1,500 a savings of $300

If using Michigan diesel going 60 miles at 1mpg would cost you $240

a total savings of $60

Same math I came up with... but my lowly 37' holds 230 gallons... I'd have to imagine these guys are buying 500+.

Filled up with diesel. $3.02 a gallon in Seabrook

$2.93 for me last weekend, I figured I'd better get me some at that price.

Middle River MD $3.75.
Right across bay at Rock Hall $4.65.
Makes no sense. Both 89 gas.
Boat dock gas; street gas $3.23.

Rock Hall fuel has typically been one of the higher prices on the bay. Annapolis ALM and Naps Narrows are usually the better prices that I see.

A couple years ago my marina got the idea to jack up their diesel price another dollar. I squawked and they gave me the 'you're paying for the convenience' answer. I said I was already doing that at the old price and the new hike was outright abuse, better be careful or you'll lose some slip holders.

I had been planning to stay on the other side of the lake after launch anyway, I didn't get to my regular marina until a month before seasons end, so they didn't sell me much fuel, they wouldn't have anyway regardless of price but they didn't know that. When I got there I seen the price had a big drop to about where it should be. I asked a dock hand about it and he said 'ya', I guess they dropped it because a couple guys were bitching'.:D

My home marina price was always the highest on the lake. We'd always make a long cruise to an Oklahoma marina to fill up with non-ethanol. I figured that the savings on the fuel offset the fuel burn for the trip so I got a free cruise out of the deal and I gave my money to someone who deserved it more.

We only have 1 fuel dock in our pool on the Ohio and there is no diesel. No idea where those guys get their fuel from though. I guess they have to go to the next pool but I don't even know where any other fuel docks are.

I have a friend who’s business has a fleet of semis. He gets a fuel truck to fill him up at the marina.

I pre buy my propane in July, paid $2.50 per gallon. The driver came out yesterday. Those that didn’t pre buy are paying around $7. Makes me wish I had gotten 2000 gallons.

In an effort to keep my prices for work the same I’m parking the truck two days a week. It’s around $3.40 a gallon for D.

When we run up and down the Columbia River we often overnight at Hood River. A quick call to the local fuel distributor will get them to send a truck down to the marina. Off road diesel at a good price. We usually took on about 400-600 gallons while we were there.

I never tried to calculate the mpg of Beachcomber or how much we spent on fuel. I'd fill up usually once a year then forget about the fuel cost.

I figured it was the least expensive part of boating and the feeling of the air rushing past my ugly mug as we were cruising offset any thoughts of fuel cost.

Then they are getting 0.5mpg....it gets a worse ROI.... I think its the boat ride, since not much to do
Gotta cruise somewhere might as well be where gas is reasonable.

Wanna know funny? To me?
Reading thread about 3 something a gallon gas while sitting at the bar paying $3 for a 12oz beer.
Whats that a gallon.
$16 bucks... High mileage guaranteed!
