Best Sundancer between 38 and 42

Hey there Blueone, yes, we bought the boat that Frank mentioned a few weeks ago. Happy members of the 420 club!
Congratulations !!...How did you make out with rebuilding the engine concern?..obviously good...but how was it handled if you can share.

I'm searching for a 05-08 42/44 also. If anyone knows of one near the Mid-Atlantic please let me know... I already know of the one listed by Summit North. Any others?

Blueone, a previous potential buyer had done an oil analysis that came back red on the port engine. That buyer walked. The oil was changed, a second analysis was done, it came back yellow. I did a third when I was looking at the boat that came back green. Given that the boat was very well maintained, I decided to take a chance on it. Worst case, the engine can be rebuilt in place for 7K or so. The seller and I hit a price that made feel comfortable accepting that possibility.
The seller felt that the "red" result was due to the boat sitting for a while with oil that was due for a change. Who knows. I talked to several people that know a lot more than me (which isn't saying much, but that's a different story) who told me that oil analysis is a good tool, but should be viewed as just one part of the total picture when evaluating a boat. The boat was very well maintained in every other way, and was outfitted pretty much the way I would have done it had she been mine. Add to that, it was local, and I know people at the marina that has serviced it it's entire life...it just seemed like the right boat for me.
