This will be our first year on the Chesapeake during the 4th. just wondering where the best places are to be. my neighbors say to stay in the creek but I remember back to being on lake Union during the Seattle fireworks show almost directly under the show was amazing. Staying on the creek does seem easier and I wont have to go under the 18' drawbridge in my 17' high boat.

Unfortunately the Middle River fireworks are a no go this year. That would give you the experience you are looking for. The other locations I've found through searching the Web are Harve De Grace and Rock Hall. My favorite is the Port of America fireworks in Inner Harbor. I've seen them there twice and both times I thought they were great. I've always stayed at a Marina so can't really speak to how it is anchored. Last time I went down I stayed at Lighthouse Point, I prefer Inner Harbor East as they have a better location I think. But what I noticed was a large basin directly below of LHP at Canton where many boats were anchored. I suspect if you get there early you can spend the night on the hook there.

I am not really comfortable with running at night let alone on July 4th after a long day on the water. Also the darn crab pots are hard enough to avoid during the day let alone at night. If I ever try it I'll stay where ever I am overnight!!!

Good Luck and Enjoy!!
