I have a 1983 SRV 225 CuddyCabin, and would like to add additional stowage.

Has anyone made, or seen, this modification to these older boats? Where would be the best location?

I thought about the floor, but am unsure of what lies beneath. I do plan on finding out when said boat comes out for winter.

I think the area of the cabin at the inside of the rubrail is a lot of wasted space on older boats. I have a little cabinet here and there, but they could all be much larger and continue around the entire perimeter almost doubling my storage space. Of course contructing curved cabinets inside a boat would be quite a job.

Don't cut too hard, you may find asphalt (in the winter). Other parts of the boat are foam-filled. This reduces noice, adds required (legally) bouyancy, and provides hull stiffness. Always hard to find more space. I removed center steps into the cabin, cut back a cabinet to make a step and added storage where the steps used to be. Mostly, I was trying to level the deck not create storage. It might work, depending on your layout.
