I just had my boat cleaned and the first trip back to the boat after the cleaning revealed the absence of the bow carpet that covers the ski locker. At first I thought someone had broken in to my boat because the poles weren't up in the covers, the storage in the sides were all cleaned out and thrown in the helm storage area and of course the missing piece of carpet. It then hit me that the wife order the cleaning and I completely forgot. But the missing carpet problem was still at hand. I contacted the cleaning company and they said they did remove the carpet off site for cleaning, but "the kids" said the carpet was missing when they came! :smt013 I know they are full of BS and are lying about it. It doesn't help the situation to know that he refered to them as "kids," so I am probably dealing with 16-20 year olds that don't give a ****. So he said he would look around for the carpet and let me know. I know that it is probably at the bottom of the lake and they aren't going to look there. So I have two questions, how do I handle this with the cleaning company and 2nd, where can I buy just that one piece of carpet?

Brent,

I would contact snapincarpets for a quote on just the ski locker piece. I do not see why they would not sell you just that piece.

As far as dealing with the cleaning company I will let others give you advise on that. Personally I would think the care, custody, control rule would apply.

Dosen't the cleaning company have insurance for just this reason? I know I did... If someoen complained that something was ruined or missing, I'd just have them contact my insurance company.

Forget the insurance......nobody is going to file a claim for a $20 piece of carpet. You will have to deal with the detailer to get satisfaction.

I would call and get a quote......if the carpet maker cannot guarantee a match with Sea Ray carpets, get the qoute from your Sea Ray dealer. Don't forget that someone will have to come to the boat and fit the snap tops in the carpet to the snap placement on your boat. Once you have that cost, its a simple phone call....."Either find and replace the carpet by Friday or I'll order a replacement and you can pay for it."

Bet it will show up...............

I don't think that you can buy any piece of carpet from sea ray for 20$ :smt001 and yes you can buy just missing piece but you will have to install snaps yourself.

I wasn't sure if I could order one piece or if they only were available as a set. Twenty dollars is nothing I know, but I am so tired of the service at my lake. I always talk about opening a business down there and whatever kind of business it is, provide great service. I know I would be able to charge a lot of money because all I would have to do is provide service that no one else would provide down there. The word would spread fast, I'm sure that alone would make it successful.

Sea Ray? Carpet?

You mean $200 right?

And good luck making the cleaning company stand up for that.

why use a internet site for boat carpet?
deal local, not like carpet is rocket science.

You're right, it's not rocket science.

But, ... (1.) depending on your area, and (2.) the availability of local providers, (3.) that do a first class, job, and (4.) are reasonable...

That is 4 defining criteria.

If your willing to do the installation, a first class carpet can be had at a reasonable cost from:

http://www.snapincarpet.com/

They are a pleasure to deal with, and that is all they do.
And they do it right.

take a piece of paper and trace out the area and cut it to fit the way you want it. mark the snaps and send it to "snapincarpet". they will match you're existing carpet exactly.
