Bentonville, Arkansas

Anyone here from this area? I am looking at a business opportunity there, which would require me to relocate to the area for a while. What's the area like?

I see a lake is in the area so that is good.

Been through there.... not much going on in that state.... I have family who live in the general area and land/homes are very cheap - even before the recent downturn. Hopefully you wont be working with/for Walmart - real pain in the butts to deal with.

I spent about 2 months in Rogers, which is an extension of Bentonville, back in the late 90's. I'm in the insurance business and there was a large hail storm there back then. I've no idea what it's like now, but Rogers (my pick) is a beautiful small town with many amenities. Remember, Walmart's Corporate headquarters are in Bentonville; thus, there are many white collar and executives in the area which like to eat out and live in nice homes.

Beaver Lake is just outside of Rogers. They dammed up the White River (remember Hilary Clinton and "whitewater"? This is the same river, but not the same location as the questionable real estate deals she did) and flooded this part of the Ozark Mtns. I want to say one of the locals told me the lake has a "few hundred miles of shoreline". All I know is it's a very large beautiful lake surrounded by mountains. This entire part of Arkansas is very smiliar in look to the lower Smokey Mtns.

Greg...I live about 2 hours from Bentonville...in Springfield Missouri. I have only driven though Bentonville, so I cannot give you specifics. Overall, the area is a great place to live....hot summers, beautiful fall colors...and winters...well who knows. If you are wondering about boating, there are seveal lakes close (as someone mentioned). We boat on Table Rock Lake, which close to Branson Missouri...probably 1.5 hourse from Bentonville. The area seems have a pretty reasonable cost of living. With Wal-Mart HQ in the area, not sure about real estate prices in that area. If you have any specific questions...I will try to answer them.
