Hello,
I'm having a problem with my starboard trim tab indicator. It's the model that has the degrees in the top box and percentage markings ranging from 10 to 100 running top to bottom.
When I first turn the trim tabs on both indicators fully light up to 100 then go back to zero. At this point the starboard indicator will fully light up to 100 again and remain there even though both tabs are at the zero down position. I also have the auto tab feature installed and it seems to function correctly. I forgot to mention that the starboard tab seems functions correctly. Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks, Dwayne

Dwayne,

I'm pretty sure there is a calibration sequence for your display. If the tabs are moving fully up and down and the display does not show that, then the next step is to recalibate the unit. You can find the calibration sequence at the Bennett web site: www.bennetttrimtabs.com

Hi John,
I was at the boat yesterday and decided to take a look at the tabs / indicators. When I turned the tabs on, the indicators ( both of them ) just blink. There is a dot at the top and bottom of the percentage column that lights up red.????????????????
I'll read the calibration sequence on the Bennett website.
Thanks, Dwayne

Update: Went out again today, what's happening now is that I'm getting the recalibrate code. Flashing 10-20, I tried to recalibrate the indicators but was unable to do it. I don't have my batteries back in the boat yet so I'm running 12 volt power from my charger / inverter. I read in my owners manual that if there isn't enough power available to the CPU calibration isn't possible. My "new" question is can I replace the two seperate indicators with the newer one piece unit? Electronic indicator control IEC001? Will my two existing plugs plug into this unit?
Also is there a option where I can hook it up to my Northstar M121 and veiw the tab position on this unit?
Thanks, Dwayne

Dwayne,

The batteries have to be back in the boat to calibrate the unit because part of the process is to run the tabs up and down. Your trim tabs were designed to draw amps from the batteries not the charger. It really isn't a good idea to use the 12 volt systems without the batteries in place.

What caused your trim tab issue was pulling the batteries off the boat and the original trim tab calibration was lost.

I believe the answer to your new question is yes but give the Bennett folks a call or an email and they can tell you what you need to order.

Hi John,
I bought 4 new Deka batteries ( 2@ 8G8DM & 2 @ group 27 ) they go in on Monday. I should know then if there is a problem. I'd like to replace the 2 older individual indicators with the more modern lookig dual indicator.
Thanks, Dwayne

This is getting rediculous! I put the batteries in today and now I have NO power at the indicators or automatic trim tab unit??????????

call Bennett they have incrediblely good customer support. They sent me parts no charge to fix an oil leak on my 20yr old boat.
