Bennett Trim Tab Corrosion/Electrolysis

Have you guys ever seen anything like this?

I had the boat on the hard ~5 months ago with nothing like this. The tabs were painted with bottom paint. I can't explain the characteristic rust color, but this happened in short order. There is metal missing, not just pitting. The tabs are approximately 12 years old, just like the boat.

Any ideas on how to fix the issue?

Do you have zinc anodes on the Trim Tabs? If so what kind of condition were they in when you hauled the boat, did you make sure there was no bottom paint between the Zincs and the Trim Tab?

They are being attacked by electrolytic corrosion and need to be protected by anodes. You will want to look into the possibility of stray current from your boat, the dock or a nearby boat.
