Just had my stock trim tab switches replaced on my 2007 260DA with the Bennett EIC Display (EIC001). Turns out its not so easy on a Sea Ray. Mechanic had to have Bennett fabricate a special harness or relay - delaying the install, but hey - at least Bennett is accommodating.

With a 260DA you get to understand trim tabs - and I completely get the idea of the switches being reversed so that the port switch controls the starboard side and vise-versa, but here is something I am completely not getting:

I get that Bennett is indicating which tab has been deployed - but you reversed the switches...and not the indicator lights? Bennett makes no mention of this in their installation manual by the way.

As you understand the switches operate in the direction you want the boat to respond. And the indicators show which Trim Tab is moving. In your example to put the port bow down the starboard Trim Tab is lowered. It can take a bit of getting used to. If you like you can easily reverse the way the lights work. Simply swap the red and green sensor wires where they plug into the module.

This will make the lights work "backwards"

Dont think of the indicator lights as up & down, think of them ONLY in how much you have deployed that trim tab down (that side of the bow will go "down"). I usually just use the LED's to make incremental adjustments to how much up/down each side needs to go. Think of it in number of LED's lit compared to the other side.

Thanks for this explanation - I totally understand. Was just pointing out how it was doubly unintuitive and how it should at least be documented in the manual.

Regardless they aren't working now - tabs work - but just flashing red on both sides and yes I have ran the reset instructions several times. No go.

I've given up, and just use them like I used to (remembering where they are at all times). Bright side they do retract at shutdown, pricey little feature sure.
