I don't get the adds that appear on the right side of this forum because I am a paid member. I have set my browser to clear all my cookies so I have to log in when I select this page. I hadn't logged in and was looking at the adds that appear on the right side when an add appeared for Bayliner, offering $3,000.00 off on selected models and a link to click to see which models.
I don't know who goes after the people to buy space for the adds on our forum but they must be good if you can get Bayliner to pay for add space on the Sea Ray web site.

I tried to capture the add but it would not allow me to capture it.

Hmm ,shouldnt this be under the jokes thread?

I saw this awhile ago... kinda chuckle when I would see it...

Yes, Brunswick actually owns 34 brand name boats...

Never seen an "ad" however...

it's Brunswick, not Bayliner...

Hey, if they want to support CSR, that is great. There is a possibllity it is a Google ad though that just advertises to the viewer based on trending. In that case Bayliner just pays Google to advertise to anyone who does searches on boating related items. Then I think Jim gets paid when you click the link. Not sure how he has it all setup though.

Isnt Bayliner ownwd by Brunswick Corp also?

Yes

That is like advertising cars to the Amish. :wow: . :smt043.

Wayne I don't know where you come up with this stuff but it is funny!

Most ads are set into the site by a third party like "Google Ads", Jim does not have an employee calling or running around looking for advertisers. Jim also has little control of the ads if it works as the site I have been around. ...But it is funny. MM

Actually, Jim could turn off the ads anytime he wanted to. Its just his way of getting you to pay for a subscription and paying the bills. :wow:

How do I know? I'm the Administrator on the BOC site and can set up for ads but I decided it was not in our best interest. We use identical VBulletin Software and the same upgrade...
BOC will stay SPAM FREE... :smt038

Enjoy your spam... :smt043

I agree with you Doug, that Jim can turn them on and off, he most likley doesn't control the ads themselves. Do you? MM

And you guys call it .. Support BOC ($15 or $50 ) to keep BOC Ad free...

CSR, Members; 24,252. :smt038

BOC, Members 11,757 and 90% of those are spammers bots.

Yes, you can control who the ads are from, who can see them, etc. The ads can be seen by post count, subscription, all kinds of ways to spam you... There are over 12,000 url's to choose from currently.

I don't have that option active and never will.

We run a donation request notice for 1.5 days per year and get enough to pay for the forum the entire year...

Our members like it that way and those that can afford to donate do. We don't indicate with a "silver or gold sponsor logo" who pays either but they can indicate that if they want to. It's their option but nobody has done it yet...

CSR must be rolling in the dough with all those subscriptions... But you can afford it... you own SeaRays right?

The 11,757 is a true number. I removed over 17,000 non members. Those numbers you see on the bottom include everyone that has ever registered or tried to register. So that number includes all the spammers too. Had I left it in there, our "membership" would have indicated more than CSR but I like REAL numbers...

That is right Wayne... we run the membership drive for 1.5 days to cover costs but some like to donate throughout the year... so we keep two donation levels up year round....

So what's your beef?

I get it, you're just ticked that you have been forced to pay so you don't have to see the bogus ads... too funny...

Doug, Shouldn't you be watching your own sandbox & Don't worry about how Jim runs his sandbox. :smt001

Don't make me drive you crazy like I did with Strat & Rob. . :smt024.

Hey guys..........I'm not a moderator here, but many of us would appreciate your talking your Bayliner and other brand squabbles and digs somewhere else. What and how another brand owner's forum handles anything seems out of place on a Sea Ray forum.

So far, I think Sea Ray owners have been very tolerant of other brand owners participation on CSR. That passivity will probably continue as long as you contribute worthwhile content. If you guys continue to dump your garbage in out back yard, that can change.

I agree!

Hi Doug, I've only ever been nice to you so I am not sure why you are on here bashing how I run things. First of all, I prune the user list too, so please don't imply that I don't. I am not sure how you would know or why you would care, but we all have weird quirks. Second, CSR has been around about half as long as BOC and we have way more traffic and posts. BOC is not even a close 2nd considering the time involved. Third, I tried to go to BOC to see some stats but you have everything locked off. Maybe you could try to make your content free to all users like CSR does to increase your traffic and numbers. Fourth, if I am not mistaken Bayliner has made a lot more boats than Sea Ray over the years so you should have a bigger potential user base.

So things seem to be going fine here for the way its set up. I am not going to your site to bash it in front of your users because that would mean I have no class. And for somebody that wants to pick this site apart and compare it to your own you sure do have a lot of posts here. Can't suck that bad...
