Bay Side Cape Suggestions

I would like to plan a long weekend on Cape Cod. I don't want to go through the Canal or around so I am looking for suggestions of destinations on the bay side. Barnstable, Wellfleet, Provincetown?

Any my suggestions for a good transient place with beach access if preferred.

Plymouth and Provincetown are a lot of fun. It has been a long time since I was at P-town but in know they have transient moorings. I am not sure about slips. Plymouth has both transient mooring and slips.
If you want to venture through the canal in the future there is some of the best boating in the world (IMO of course) on the south of the cape. The run through the canal is fun and no big deal at all, it takes about an hour to cruise through. Once down here the only challenge is getting through woods hole. It is marked well but a little confusing. I could send you a map if that would help. Once through woods hole the vineyard is only 10 min away, falmouth is right there with a lot of coves and beaches.

Thanks for the info. We were going to do a canal run but due to some major repairs we were trying to limit the distance we travel.
That being said we already have a trip to Plymouth planned in a few weeks. I have never been to the outer Cape and the beaches look amazing. Wellfleet says their docks are on the mud 2 hours either side of low tide...so that's out. Barnstable offers little information about transient dockage. So it looks like P-town may be the winner.

A friend of mine boats out of marshfield and P-town is his go to spot. We are trying to get there this year ourselves. We are heading to the north side the weekend of 26-27th of July because it is the centennial of the canal so that weekend they are doing a lot of events such as a boat parade on Saturday night.
