Recently purchased and now de-bugging; The indicator shows low water at all times, I'm guessing the probes that replace the battery caps are bad. Anyone know if replacements are available?

Never heard of this device. More info would be very helpful.

Can you return it if it's defective?

I'd never seen one before, either. It's an '85 , there are two wires leading from the dash indicator light panel to the batteries, each has a cap with a short metal probe that replaces the original battery cap. My guess is that if the electrolyte level in the battery drops below the level of the probe it will cause the red light on the panel to indicate water needs to be added. Since it's a pretty simple system my guess is that the probe is the only thing that can go "bad".

I had the same issue with mine. I mounted a remote Xantrex battery monitor status panel where the water level monitor was, I find it quite useful to see the charger status/battery voltage at a glance.
