Battery Issue

My port side battery switch (on the control panel) won't stay on, and the alarm sounds when I turn the port side key on.....I can't start the port engine without using the emergency switch....Does that mean the house battery is dead?

check batteries first, but even with dead battery and charger "ON" battery switch should stay on. then check fuses on latching solenoid and if they good test solenoid.

Thanks...In fact, the batteries are actually ok (although dry)...but the port solenoid switch is no good. Appreciate the help.
