Whats your set up?

I tend to post all my questions in the 460 thread as that is the boat I have and in most cases my questions are specific to the 460.

We are on Lake Powell in Utah. This is a very remote lake so when working on the boat you really have to do your home work as once your at the boat it is a four hour drive back home to get parts.

It is typical for us to unplug and get off the dock and out on the lake from anywhere to five to ten days at a time. There are not marinas around the lake to pull into to plug back in and charge up. Once the Umbilical cord is unplugged you are at the mercy of your inverter, house batteries and gen. If you dont have a good set up for all three it makes for long run time on the gen to bring the inverter batteries back up to life and as you all know you have to wait for the inverter to power back up.

We Currently have four 6volt for the inverter and then the two starting batteries that also work as some of the 12volt house... as I am told by the prior owner.

We are looking at changing out the four 6 volt inverter batteries to Power Sonic PG-12V200 FR 12 Volt 226-AH 20 hr rate. We know that we will get better life out of these and they are maintenance free also we understand that when the charge on them drop it will take longer to bring the charge back up than the set up we have now.
The currant four 6V are in the back starboard corner of the boat in a box. because of space in that corner the new ones will have to be stacked. I wish there was a better option to just change out the four we have now and use the same box however I dont know of one.

My question is . Have any of you up graded and changed to these type of batteries. Do any of you have thoughts or a better plan? Have you stacked batteries before. These will work well for stacking as they are maintenance free.

Thanks for the help.

I have never used the batteries you are referring to but here is the battery set up I had on my 52' Cockpit Motor Yacht.

Each engine (Cat 3208s) had an 8D starting battery
The genny (Norther Lights 12KW) had a 12v Group 31
House was 6-6volt Golf Carts connected through a 3KW inverter.

I obviously couldn't run the AC with the inverter but I ran pretty much everything else for a weekend with the Golf Carts. I would run the genny a bit in the morning and afternoon to top off the batteries.
