Barnacles.

So I found a tool worked great in my son’s toolbox. I’m sure it has an automotive use but it’s the size of a screwdriver with a curved forked tip could be used for prying nails out of wood. Worked great for getting barnacles out of tight spots.
I cleaned it up pretty good, took about 2 hours. It’s not pretty but I got about 98% of them off. Very windy so I didn’t have to deal with flies.
Don’t say you weren’t told or be surprised at haulout. Bad this year.
That would be a tack puller, I use one to help remove loose plaster from walls

Mine comes out next week for a good cleaning and some bottom work. I will post some pics for comparison.

Don’t wait too long guys. All water front activities are pretty much shut down. Cold winds blowing off the river. Not very nice down by marinas. This is the earliest I have pulled and winterize a boat ever. By about 4 weeks, but when I go down by the water I am glad it’s done.

You winterized your boat already?

The shop doing my outdrive prop seal is going to do the engine. I did the water and toilet systems Friday. So my portion is done. It’s not going back in water this year, I will miss my fall boating but since I paid for haulout to fix prop seal, no point to dunk then pay again for haulout. The leak got so bad I was losing all the lube in a 1 mile trip so it couldn’t wait.
Actually this repair has me excited for next year. Last year I/ we got the engine all redone and running sweet. This year we redid the outdrive. I know things always break, but by spring I will have every engine and outdrive component like new. Then I can trust this boat for long boat trips down the bay. And fortunately for me the hull is built like a brick house, solid, no transom stringer issues. I got a real good one.
Kind of like Potato Man’s thread but not as in depth.

Dude, it will probably 70* in a week or so.

I’ll use the zodiac. After these 4 days, told wife glad it’s done. Every place we like to go is shut down for season and I don’t drive the boat just to ride around. So no point keeping it in. Feels like early winter coming.

Your crazy man! Still another month at least to enjoy the boat until that never ending darkness settles in and it really is cold out.

... Feels like early winter coming.

I will say this, these past few days here have been like winter. Man this has sucked in a big way. Going to Baltimore this weekend and catching the Sunday night Ravens game. Taking the boat with friends to the inner harbor. Very leary about doing this and always said I would never do this, way too dangerous at night. Oh well, thats what I get when I drink with a friend that has season tickets!

Now back to barnacle talk ...

I'm gonna be hauling soon even though we have the pre-paid slip until Nov 1. The dealer is taking the Sundancer in on a trade. I will just have my 9 footer in a 35 foot slip, which looks goofy but at least I will still be boating! Gonna be in the 70s this weekend

What are you getting to replace the 300?
