Looking to replace my stock Clarion CMD5 in my new to me 08 330DA and trying to find a reputable installer that won't take too much advantage of me. Got one quote and it was through the roof. Not being cheap, just realistic and don't mind paying for great service. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

BOE in Stevensville just replaced my Clarion unit with a Fusion and did great work.

+1 on BOE - Jim is great over there.

Before replacing it is there a problem with the unit? I have an old XMD-3 on my boat and while it does not blow the doors off it it more than adequate. Some better speakers would probably help though. It's still too loud many times when you in the cockpit.

The only issue I had with the stock unit was wanting Bluetooth - so I added a bluetooth receiver from Fusion to the AUX-IN and now I am set for a while.

YMMV but I just wanted to put this out there as stereo upgrades can get expensive real quick.

Kevin:
Too bad you already got the BT receiver. I was using a BT 100 with my older Fusion stereo that crapped out on me last week. Had to run to West Marine right away to get a replacemt and put it in that night before the weekend.
Can’t be on the boat without music.
The new Fusion stereo has built in BT so with no other use for the BT 100 I connected it to one of the Aux in jack sets. Can’t imagine that I’ll ever find the need to use a second Bluetooth in the same stereo though, but since the old XM receiver, iPod dock and wired remote were no longer useable with the new unit I didn’t want to waste that too.

I got the BT-100 when I bought the bought so I have had it a while. It suits my needs and gives me access to Sirius XM radio and Amazon Music so I rarely listen to the radio. With my new raymarine axiom I can run Spotify from my MFD so may switch to that next year and it would be great if they integrated the Sirius app too.

I stream Sirius XM all the time too. The new Fusion remote and head unit can be tied in to my Raymarine MFD’s via NMEA 2000, but I didn’t bother with it since the remote is mounted right next to the MFD’s at the helm.

What I meant to say it that the Axiom runs the Spotify App - no need for another device (no more cell phone ringing or email notifications over stereo - although sometimes that's convenient). It can also run Netflix so I can watch a movie instead of paying attention to the channel markers. ;) The apps connect the Axiom to the stereo via Bluetooth. That's why I would like more apps like Amazon Music and Sirius XM for the Axiom.
