We just bought a 330 DA and we're going to keep it in Baltimore next summer. We're considering these two marinas. The previous owner kept the boat at Harbor East. We generally like what Harbor East has to offer, and we don't care so much about a pool, so we're leaning toward the same place.

If you are familiar with them, any major good/bad to consider?

Thanks for any experience/input.

I purchased a boat out of Lighthouse Point. Don't know a whole lot about either marina but Lighthouse Point had no parking. You had to pay to park. At the time, it struck me as very inconvenient.

I think either would be good, have stayed at both, I would check the parking situation out. I believe a slip at lighthouse comes with a parking space

Does it have to be Baltimore what about the Eastern Shore?
If you're coming down from Philly, the Eastern Shore might be easier to get to, and the Inner Harbor is readily accessible by boat, so you'd still be able to get to Baltimore when you wanted. There are quite a few very nice marinas on the Eastern Shore, too.

They are both great places. Some things to think about. HE will get very crowded with transients during the weekend and things could be loud. LHP same deal but they tend to keep the transients to the other side of the marina for the most part. I know I've been part of those loud gatherings at both Marinas...(cough... CSR...). HE is close to a lot more inner harbor venues. HE is a short walk to Pier 6 and you can sit on the other side of the fairway there and catch concerts. LHP is a longer walk to fells point and even longer to Inner Harbor. LHP does seem to have a bit more of a social slip holder vibe to it in what I see when they send me their emails... HE might have the same but I suspect not as much. LHP is closer to Canton, nice area a few bars and resturants all are good! Parking for guests at both I think is going to be tough. The parking lots around HE fill up and the local street parking around LHP is tough on any weekend.

Thats my thoughts!! HE is an easier unload/load as you can pull up to the circle and stop to unload. I think LHP has a small area to unload and on a busy weekend it looks tight.

Don't under estimate the pool, it's nice to hang out when it's hot. Also Inner Harbor going in and out in a 330 is going to be a bit of a bouncy ride as there is always traffic on the weekends. It is a long no wake run and then a long run on plane to reach the mouth of the Patapsco. Also now that I'm thinking of it the only down side of LHP is there is a constant swell at that location and the docks are constantly moving even in the dead of night with no traffic. It's very odd but have noticed it every time I've stayed there. Might make for some uncomfortable nights in the slip....

One more thing! Inner Harbor is expensive slip rate wise, compared to most anywhere else on that side of the bay. No winter land storage so you will have to think about that. Depending on where you are in Philly those folks are right and the Eastern Shore may work out better for you.

Have you consider Anchorage Marina in the harbor? I believe you can lease a slip there. They are a owner/slip arrangement but time to time you can lease.

If you do need info on some eastern shore locations I can only say since we have been at Mears Point it has been a fantastic place to keep our two boats. If you would like more info I would be happy to fill you in. We live 10 minutes from Baltimore and it's been since 2004 since I've been there by boat.

This is all great information, thanks everyone.

It's got to be Baltimore. Our geography is a bit complicated. I work in DC (where we have an apartment) and my wife works in Philadelphia (where we have our home). I work from home sometimes, I always go home on weekends, and I take the train. She works in Philadelphia, comes down to work from DC sometimes, and usually drives. So having the boat literally on the way between the two cities, and also accessible by train, is part of our reason for doing this.

Sounds like they are both quality facilities, and one is a bit more in the center of things and the other is a bit more secluded and has a pool and more of a marina social scene. Tough choice, we'll have to debate this one over some cocktails.

Thanks again for the replies.

So if it doesn't need to be Baltimore. We keep our boat in Havre de grace, Md which is 1/2 way between philly and Baltimore and is at the top of the bay. It's 5 minutes off I95 so it's convenient.

We have a lot of PA and NJ people in our Marina. Great little marina called Tidewater.
