So I am doing a repar on the front deck of my boat. Sliced open the front of the hatch and dug a whole bunch of rotten balsa core out. It'a about a 2 x 2 area. Should I go back with balsa core or marine plywood? It's 1 inch thick. I can get a 4x8 1/2 inch marine plywood locally -- would have to double it up. I could order the balsa at 1 inch. What do you think? Thanks in advance.

i used corecel - easy to work with and cant really soak up water like balsa - do not use plywood on large areas on the deck - it will not flex like the pieces of balsa or corecell and can cause the gelcoat to crack along the edge of the repair
