yikes... a brain tickle required to enter.

So.... we have made it to the Bahamas and cleared Customs at Great Harbor Cay in the Berries..... Fairly painless, as we had all our paperwork in order including our Bahamas health card. No wait as it was pretty quiet. I heard from another boater from Palm Beach that there was a 3 hour wait at the West End on Thursday. He decided to just continue to Great Harbor.
Fuel is readily available. Great Harbor was $3.82/ gallon
We just arrived at Palm Cay Marine and it is 4.07/gallon. Surprising as I’ve always experienced Nassau to have the cheapest fuel.

Thanks for the update. Got emails from Bimini that the whole health card/visa stuff got all backed up. They said just make sure you bring a printed copy of your negative COVID test. I am lucky as I have 2 weeks until we head over. Time for them to get bugs out

Correction... Fuel price at Palm Cay Marina, Nassau was $3.34/ gal. Which is very cheap by Bahamas standards.... and now makes sense as Nassau is usually the cheapest fuel except for St. George’s Power Company near Spanish Wells.

Well I have my Covid test scheduled for Saturday to get my health visa for next Friday's trip to Bimini. The idea of a "brain tickle" to go on vacation seems crazy. Strange Times.....

Got my "Brain Scrape" done so now I wait so i can submit my health visa and get my "OK" to enter.... Cross my fingers that we all test negative.

Well this trip turned into a total bust....
1. Still waiting on my Covid test results since Florida is such a shit show right now nothing is happening quickly. 7 days and still nothing, call the number and they tell you "we are backed up".
2. No results = no Bahamas health visa so cannot enter
3. Mother nature decided to stick high pressure over the atlantic and push easterly winds 10-20 kts back into my life....

Guess we will try again in 2 weeks....:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

That’s a bummer we where planning to go with COD back in April but then COVID happened so now we’re stuck waiting till next time he wants to go.

Here we can't get a test unless possibly exposed let alone any results.
I'm resolved the only trip this year is up the Fl coast to Jacksonville and cruise the St Johns river. Probably all the way down to Sanford and leave the boat there for a month then run the boat back home to Merritt Island. Sanford is only an hour drive west from home....
Next year back the Bahamas.
Tom

Hmmm. Hoping not to hijack, just along the lines of precationary testing. A dockmate was telling me a story last night about some folks (friends of friends of friends) in the Carolina's. They felt healthy but for some reason or another wanted a COVID test as a precaution to something they had planned. Something like prior to visiting elderly family. Anyway, registered, waited in line for a couple hours around sick folks. Decided not worth the wait or risk, cancelled the trip and left without taking the test. A few days later they recieved notification that they tested positive. WTF?

We arrived in the Bahamas on July 1. We got tested at the drive- thru at CVS-Minute Clinic. You can schedule an appointment on line. You just need to have some type of symptom and strangely I had symptoms . Got my results in two days, then I was able to get my Bahamas health card.
I just heard Bahamas are going to prohibit flights from the US starting on Weds. I would think they will stop vessels as well at some point since Florida right now has a lot of Covid cases.

The weather had been perfect the first two weeks but now we are dealing with steady winds and periodic passing storms so at the moment your not missing much. Cruised to Palm Cay Marina on Nassau from Highbourne in the Exumas this morning and had 3-4 foot followings seas. Trying to make our way back to the states but we will probably need to stay here until possibly Friday.... Luckily winds are easterly so we will be running with them mostly. I guess not a bad place to wait out the winds...

Looks like crap until the end of the month is the next "nice weekend" window. Too early to tell but fingers crossed for departure on the 31st... Anybody wana come?

Did you read the link I posted yesterday? Bahamas is closed to US tourists.

Not entirely true. They stopped commercial flights and commercial vessels. Private vessels are still permitted to enter the Bahamas.
OK, thanks for the clarification.

Cod I see you made it to Bimini what was it like? I heard it was pretty "ghostly" compared to normal this time of year.

Very Ghostly.... Blue Water, Big Game and Resorts World all were empty other than a couple boats.
Honestly for us it was just a stop over on our way home. In addition, Bahamas did a lock down for this weekend so nothing open. We left this morning.
