Bahamas Fling

Big Game is closed and up for sale. Originally they were going to put us all at Bimini Sands, but we all complained that it wasn't on Alicetown, so now we are staying at Browns, which is pretty close to where Big Game is.

ref: fling to Bimini
I already did the reservation to fling to bimini for June 01 -05 , 2011 with Carlton. We are going to Bimini Bay Resort and Casino. After we get to the Bimini is any good place or beach to visit there, does anyone can help me with that. It is my first time to Bimini, i am going with my wife and another couple. We are very exciting with this trip

You'll love Bimini Bay!! Make sure you go hang out at the infinity edge pool. (they have 2 pools). It overlooks the ocean and is stunning, especially around sundown. Carlton is a great guy and will be able to show you all the good spots to go. Make sure you also get to Joe's for fresh conch salad-it's a little shack halfway between Bimini Bay and the main part of the island. There is a tram that runs from one end of town to the other that you can hop on for a few dollars each way. There's also a great hole in the wall house that makes the best fresh Bimini Bread.
If you like to snorkel go to the Sapona -the concrete ship, and another great place to go is honeymoon harbor.

I'm going the 3rd week in June with Ray (White Pearl) and a few others-it's kind of the reunion trip, though we are staying at Big Game instead of Bimini Bay.

I was reading your very interesting history about your fling to bimini with a very rough seas, did you put some pictures of your trip?
Does all the boats in the fling to bimini have to go at the same speed to be in line one after the other, or each one goes at their own speed?
I dont like to go to fast or too slow

Thanks.. It was a crazy ride, that's for sure. What we all try to do is find another boat that has about the same cruising speed as we do, so the boats basically pair up. And even though we all leave the same time, we all seem to spread out according to speed... Ray was good enough to wait for me as we first tried to go slow and make our way thru the waves, and then we ended up speeding up and trying to get thru it as quickly and safely as we could. There is alway a lead boat, and we all try to keep in radio contact with one another as well.

You have the same boat as I do. What is your normal cruising speed?

:huh:Barryg, What?? First i heard about Big game closed, I quess i need to call bahamas tourism again too, haven't recieved my paperwork for the Bimini trip 3rd week of June!! Are they doing our res. for Browns now??
 
If you look at the date of my post you are referring to it was over a year ago. Big Game is now a Guy Harvey Outpost resort and open !!
 
:thumbsup:barryg, Sorry, my bad!! I was just looking at Brown's.......Glad we're not staying there! LOL What was the cruise speed of your boat? Maybe we're close on cruise speeds.
 
I still have some work to do on the boat as I'm not getting all the rpm's I should at WOT. My cruising speed is usually around 24-27.. Will have to see what happens as it gets closer to the trip..

In the last trip i did last week to Isla morada my boat was doing 22 knots at 3800 rpm, and 17 knots at 3400 rpm, with the props with a litle dent. I sent my props to fix yesterday, i hope i will do a litle better now with my props fixed. Looks like my boat travels great at 22 kts inside the biscayne bay. In key largo we stay in Bahia del Mar, great Marina and Candy the dock master is excellent.
I get 24 kts at 4000 rpm, but i preffer going slower to keep the engines safe.
 
Fernando, you'll have a great time.. I really like Bimini Bay, really beautiful resort.. Let me know how the trip goes when you get back!
