Anyone planning a crossing this summer from Palm Beach?

We have one planned so far, July 1st through July 5th (Crossing fingers for a good weather window).
Headed to West End, staying at Old Bahama Bay.

Yes in June to Exuma and Eleuthera. However, waiting to see how this Covid thing plays out on getting back in the US. We are part of the CBP ROAM program and it's unclear how we clear back in the US. CBP are not giving any answers...

Hoping to get over there at some point in 2021. Would depart via Boynton inlet when we do get it scheduled. For now, watching everyone's updates and reports so keep them coming. Thanks.

Have you (or anyone) looked into the Bahamas program “Click2Clear?” There is a program for individuals to have their US documentation registered wherein it vastly accelerates admittance to the islands and I believe it allows you to “clear” from any point as opposed to having to hit one of the customs locations. It’s new as of 2/22/21.

Was thinking Bimini 6/27 - 7/2 but may do the keys instead.....really dont want to deal with covid test etc - I read about someone that just went over, had a smooth check in and then returned back using ROAM - He said he had zero problems FWIW

On the bucket list for sure.

This is the message I get when opening the CBP app. We are on the fence on going due to COVID restrictions. Not going to jump through whoops because of this COVID crap.Well just wait until next year if need be.

Just go south out the Bahamas, turn west by Key West, make a beeline for the mouth of the Rio Grande in Texas...easy peasy. You'll be welcomed, given a good dinner. Heck, maybe they'll even haul your boat back to Florida for you! ;)

I will be heading for Bimini for the weekends as soon as it lays down. Not worried about the Covid crap it is what it is and will deal with it as needed. Yes signed up for the new "Click to Clear" system and excited to try it but I know the Bahamas it will have issues. Since Europe trip is out again this year wifey agreed to sign up for this 10 day fling with my dock buddy in his 46DA... Really looking forward to it.

I’m not sure when that was or when it applied, but my buddies running their bosses boats over for family trips and/or fishing have going back and forth all last summer and this winter like the Long Island Expressway. Not a single issue going over or coming back.

This is the message that you get now on the App. We were there last July and no issues either and the App was working to clear customs on the return. Do you know if and how your buddies are clearing customs coming back into the US? If so, how? Calling in or stopping at a Port of Call?

One would thing as a trusted traveler that clearing in over the App/Phone would be the preferred way.

I'm not suggesting not to check back in, but curious how things work. What would happen if someone didn't check back in. And can you check in coming back on an app?

The App has a face-time feature that you check-in and interview with US customs through. You have to qualify for the ROAM program as a "trusted traveler" or through the old SVRS / LBO programs.
If caught and not compliant to the rules of the game probably off to jail for the captain and impound the boat. I wouldn't want to find out....

Hi, I would like to plan to tag alone behind yall on the trip if its ok with you. I have boated to Bimini once but never past there. Is it just you and another friend with a boat or a larger group? I would love to start planning!!

I’m not sure but assuming you need to show your Vaccination card as proof when clearing customs. They did just create a “Click 2 Clear” customs which should make clearing easier. You can access it at the website below.
