I just purchased, last month, a 290 with 220 hours on the engines. I’ve had no problems when the gas gauge was 3/4 full. Now it’s down to 1/4 of a tank and my port engine stopped running. I also having generator problems where engine starts for 30 seconds and shuts down. I know the gas is at least a year old. Should I drain the gas and put in new filters or add a stabilizer and change filters. Or maybe it’s some other problem. Thanks in advance for your help

Gas gauges are notoriously inaccurate, so could be your out of gas. Go fill the tanks and see if the problem resolves itself.

If that solves it, fill up when the gauge hit 1/2 and keep track of gallons.

The generator is shutting down most likely because there is not enough fuel in the tank and the pickup tube is made so that the generator doesn't empty your main tank and leave you stranded. It wouldn't be a bad idea to refill the tank to dulute the old fuel and add some Seafoam to it to clean the fuel system. Change all your fuel filters for sure.

I get that from Mexican and Chinese food.... And ribs.
