Anyone have one or a recommendation on a different one.

I have a Garmin Glo. Connects over Bluetooth to the iPad. I was using it in conjunction with Navionics for Ipad, works very nicely.

I have upgraded to a new MFD and no longer use it. Its sitting on my desk waiting to be ebay'd. I'd sell for $65 shipped, if interested.

Would mounting it to the bottom side of the arch interfere with reception?

I have a bad elf GPS for my iPad. I like it and it works well.

Is it the one that plugs into your ipad or the bluetooth one?

+1. I've used this Garmin unit for a few seasons as well. Works great. I sit it on the helm near the instruments and have zero issues with reception. Highly recommend.

Another tip - if you're going to take longer trips or want to use the GPS all day consider buying an outboard USB charger/batter pack to plug the unit into. Makes for a cleaner setup than trying to connect to the nearest cigarette lighter in my opinion.

I have the Bad Elf for GPS for my iPad, too. Works fine.

The one that plugs into the iPad.

No...this is incorrect.

The Garmin Glo is a bluetooth unit ...connects wirelessly. I think the battery goes 8 or 12 hours.

The cords are there to charge it up, either from a cigarette lighter or external battery as mentioned above. Both cords that came with the unit are shown.

I was answering which bad elf I have. I don’t know about the garmin glo.

@Coz I originally had the Bad Elf that plugged right into the iPad (the old style connector) but then when Apple changed the connector to the Lightning (new style) and I bought a new iPad it no longer worked since the connection was physically different.

That reason, as well as the fact that it was always a bit clunky to have the Bad Elf plugged into the iPad (there were times I was afraid it would break off) caused me the next time to spend more money for the Bluetooth version. I am happier with the Bluetooth version and still have and occasionally use it.

I have a blue tooth elf. I used it for aviation and marine. No complaints. I love think I paid $100 for it 5 years ago.
