Bad Alternator - should I replace with OEM or Sierra?

I would have no concerns buying a Sierra alternator, I have used a lot of their parts - water pumps, filters, electrical and even the bellows on my outdrive. I don't recall ever having an issue with any of their parts.
I always buy OEM, but my mechanic assures me that he uses them all the time and has not had any issues whatsoever.

Thanks for all the guidance. Because of the warranty and learning that an OEM Alternator is actually maded by several different 3rd party companies, I decided to go with a Sierra and changed it out this weekend. During the swap out I noticed that my adjuster pulley was looking a little schoddy, so I change it, the bushing, stud and nut out. I tried the boat out after the swap and all is looking good!
Thanks to all for the input.
