Just received for my bday a 2007 185 and I was looking at possibly installing a back up battery any suggestion on the location or is it even needed.

Wow, nice!
I purchased a Sea Ray 175 last year. First thing I did before I hit the water was install a 2nd battery. The first battery was on the starboard side, against the transom next to the engine. I installed the second one under the seat right in front of the other. Lost some storage space (which is precious on the 175), but its good piece of mind for where we boat.

I installed a switch right above the batteries. Purchased the red/black marine cables off of EBay in 25' lengths, purchased connectors and heatshrink from West Marine locally. Sold the rest of the cable on Ebay, making my cable purchase nearly free.

You can see it in the photos on my website. Follow my link in my signature below. (Never mind the teal carpet, its being replaced with blue anyday now) :smt001

Enjoy!

Ah, Cambridge, MD, one of my favorite towns. Have cousins there and spent a few vacations there years ago. I remember it back in the late 60s when it was a very small town. Do you know any Redmers??

Thanks for the info

Thanks for the input I will make a decision today as to where to place the battery. Hopefullly I won't loose any storage. As for Cambridge it is no longer a small town, but we are from the Edgewater area and I find the pace to be like the Edgewater area in the 60's. So I guess it just a matter of time. But its going to be sunny and mid 70's I plan to hit the bay today.

Welcome Aboard  . Post some pics of your boat in the virtual marina :smt024 . Congratulations on the new Boat!
