Back from Bimini

Barry - Great pics!

Last time I was in Bimini, there were new markers leading into the channel and we did not use the old land based white markers for the approach.

Did you see a different approach to the harbor?

Randy

Hey Randy,
Wish I could go with you on your trip next week, but I have a big charity event I'm involved with that runs from Thursday thru Sunday....

We used the new channel markers going in and out most of the time. The one time we used the white markers were when Chad wanted to show us and the owners of the go fast we were on the other way to get in, and to get close to the beach.

I'm wanting some of that great fresh Conch salad about now just remembering it...

When are you leaving on your trip, and how long are you going for?

Barry

Good god those pics are nice! That water is beautiful.
I am with Turtle........I NEED to move!

Thank you for that escape from the job for just a little while. Back to work for me now.

Awesome guys! Looks like a blast.

Thanks Guys..

Already thinking of when I can get back there. I had signed up for the Local Boaters Option with Customs and Homeland Security before I left, where you go down along with your crew and pre-register-bring your boat's documentation as well as your passports. Then once you get back in the US, you call instead of having to go down, and they clear you over the phone.

As for Customs in the Bahamas..you fly the yellow quarantine flag when you are just offshore, and once you dock, only the captain is allowed off to go clear customs and immigration. It was a 5 minute walk to Customs- a $150.00 cost for a boat up to 35' and 4 people (good for up to 90 days), and then another 5-10 minute walk the opposite way to Immigration. Took 5 minutes inside each office and that was it.

Thinking of going back the end of July or beginning of August....

Curious to know how many single engine boats made the trip, e.g., the 22 and 24-footers. I crossed many times in a sailboat, but am a little skittish about crossing in our single engine 240. Thanks.

Out of 22 boats that went, probably 6 were in the 22-26' range with single engines. One was even a sundeck (I think 23'). I wouldn't want to cross alone in a small boat, especially in a sundeck, but in a cruiser as long as you check the conditions and are with a group, it's a pretty nice ride.
