Greetings from an old SRO member and transient here to CSR way back in 2006.

I've been off this forum for several years because we had to sell our 230 Sundancer when hard times came. It was too distressing to visit here and continue reading about Sea Rays and boating when we couldn't participate. I tried a time or two, and it was like torture dwelling on reminders of what we couldn't do. I haven't been on this site since 2009. I hope I didn't disrespect any of the wonderful friends I made here by falling off the face of the earth and ceasing to keep up with them. For that I am truly sorry.

Well, times are better now and we just bought "Irish Wake" a '99 240 Sundancer. It'll take me a long time to get back up to speed here; just reading the 240 Sundancer thread looks like it will take all weekend LOL.

I hope to find old friends from long ago here again - and look forward to sharing great times in the future!

Hi Gerald................glad to see you are back on the water. Are you still driving that neat old Explorer as a tow vehicle? I still remember our get together many years ago on Lake Murray.

Dave

Welcome back...it took me 18yrs after selling our last SeaRay....it does feel so good to be back on the water. Enjoy the new boat!

Welcome back Gerald. Congrats on the new boat.

Getting caught up on CSR is half the fun of boating! Enjoy.

Mark

Welcome back. It's nice to see you've encountered a bit of a turn around and are able to get back on the water. Now, as a long time CSR member you know that the info about your new boat isn't really true until you post pics of it. Only then will we all believe you! Just kidding, of course, but we do like to see boat pics.

Thanks for the welcome back. Pics would be of the boat in my driveway at the moment; I'll be working on it and the trailer Saturday at home and then towing it to a local storage facility near Keowee. If a "dry" on-the-trailer photo is acceptable I'll post one this weekend.

Dave, yes and no sort-of concerning the Explorer. At 250,000 miles I finally wore it out fourwheeling but found its identical twin down in Orlando a year ago and went down to Florida and bought it. I'm parting out the old Explorer to build up the "new" one.

I installed a weight distribution hitch, upgraded brakes, and a few other items to maximize my towing ability, but when I drove it and the boat/trailer onto a scale to check what I was doing, I discovered I was 600lbs over max for the tow rating of my Explorer in stock configuration. Monday I hauled the boat back 450 miles from Virginia with the Explorer and it was quite a strain on that SOHC 6 cyl, but I made it. I took my time and drove very conservatively and did okay. I am aware that the safety police on the forum here will probably arrest me. Two days back here and I'm already stirring the pot LOL.

I remember the time at Lake Murray. I'll never sleep on the water there during 4th of July again without and air conditioner! Whew! And the trip to Charleston, and all the other times with you guys. I'm looking forward to getting on the water again :)

Photo of the 240DA to follow this weekend.

Welcome back, Gerald. We have never met, but it seems you have quite a few friends here. Hopefully, you'll stay in the boat this time!!

Dale
