OK Guys, Just got off the phone with Myles from, You gussed it Myles Electronics about my old b and
g autopilot. He stated that the old B & G network had some issues and probably was not worth fixing.
He was working in the dark a little as I did not know the exact B AND G model but he thought he knew what was in the " OLD SEARAY'S". He told me to email him exact model when i went back to Key Largo and he would try and help. He also told me that he is probably to far away to fix it anyway but to email him. He did not know of any B & G guys in Miami but would try to find that out as well. Sooooooooo, has any one fixed, replaced their old B and G stuff? If repaced, what with? Does any body know B and G people in the Miami area? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Guys, JC

My B&G VHF microphone died last year. I contacted my dealer in Fort Lauderdale and he said the original mic was replaced with a newer version and the newer version was discontinued. he looked in his warehouse (none) and told me to look in eBay (none). The radio works fine but the mic is broken. I had to install a new radio which is good because of advancements they have made with VHF radios.

I'm just waiting for the other components of the "Network Quad" to go bad. Then I'll have 4 square holes in my helm that I have to patch or fill in not to mention the replacement cost of the new equipment.

Sorry for the non-help but I fear the worst.

Randy

Randy, Thanks anyway. I will probably repLace it. I hate that. Would love to fix the old
if i could. Hopefully will get some good ideas from the guys on here. Thanks again, JC

JC,

I neglected to finish my point on the other components.........unless you have some indication that the head unit is bad, like no LCD display, your problem might well be one of the other simpler easier fix components and you might need to get the electronics guy on the boat. Further, you may even have to run the boat with him on it to identify what is going on. the B & G network system is pretty cool since it will nearly always tell you what is wrong with error codes, provided you can understand what the display is telling you, which isn't always easy. For example, "pilot error" could mean that the pilot isn't getting the GPS input, or the rudder is hard one way or the other when the system is turned on and initializes. The rudder indicator tells the pilot the rudder isn't moving (since it can't) so you get the pilot error message.

Good luck with it.........

My internet has been down due to the Awful storms we just had. Thanks Frank i am going to
call them this afternoon and see if i can get someone to take a look at it. I will let you know what they
find. Probably be mid next month. Thanks again, JC

I've had a couple of problems with my network pilot when I first got the boat. The first problem was with my rudder indicator. I broke out the manual and re-calibrated that and it fixed it. Then I lost gps signal to the unit, setup the unit to get gps from the chartplotter and that's good now. Then I put a bag in the back room on the floor and the metal in the bag made the compass go crazy. It's my most finicky BG gear, but so far they've been easy fixes.

Not to highjack this thread much...where is your Network pilot head physically located in your boat? Mine is on the std side in the gunnel area and I think that the unit needs to be much lower in the boat and on the centerline of the boat.

mine is on the starboard side underneath the seating in the aft berth.

The compass is mounted up under the gunnel because that area is not likely to get magnetic interference. They work fine there and are well out of the way.
