automatic halon issue

Hi,
I got stuck on the lake today on a 180 signature apparently because of the halon system.
While cruising on kind of tough weather, the boat stopped.
The Halon system light went on.
Pop it in, restart
Did the same after 2 minutes and couldn't get the boat to restart.
Now when I turn the igntion key, the light just pops out (ON) and I can't even try to crank.
Any idea what's wrong?
Everything was great on the boat so far.. :smt009

I'm really only familiar with the OEM set-up, but in the OEM case, the green light is always on - indicating everything is operational - and nothing "pops out". What does the owner's manual for that system say? How about the system's manufacturer website? Or, maybe try calling the company.

What year boat are you talking about? Nothing in the recent past has ever been called a 180 "Signature". I also don't recall that being an option on the 180BR, so you'll have to be more specific with what type of system you have.

Did the Halon discharge?

Sorry for the Signature, might not be accurate.
It's a 1994 180 open bow I/O.
The user amnual gives 2 wire colors for the halon system.
I don't think it discharged as there was no fire.

Went to check the boat today and couldn't find the system (botle ???)

I've only ever seen Sea Ray mount them behind the engine, high on the transom. Looking back at the archives, it was an option. But who knows where they mounted it back then. It shouldn't be too hard to miss, though.

Mine is in forward of my port engine and there is no indicating system on mine. I guess if everything stops and I see white powder coming from the engine bay, will know what happened.........

Sorry, I should've been more specific: I've only seen them mounted behind engine on smaller boats.

After checking the parts list from searay, it appears that light was installed from the factory.
I'm now looking for the wiring diagram (couldn't find it on the searay website) of the 1994 180, trying to figure what happened with that "light".
Thanks for your help.

Just another fuse in line, nothing to the halon system (still not found, if you have any pics).
Fuse jumped, started right away, put the fuse back and everything is OK now.
Next episode in the electrical section if needed.
FYI, the 180 from 1994 is really a SIGNATURE one (not sure what that means other than decals)...

Glad you found your problem. Just for future reference Halon is a clear gas and does not have a powder associated with it. That is why they use in electronic and computer labs. No clean up except for the dead techs.
