For anyone on Lake Erie who is planning on being around The Black River Aug. 10 - 12, the Lorain Coast Guard and the Lorain Police Dept. will be stopping ALL incomming and outgoing traffic on the Black River for sobriety checks.
They have put the word out so everyone will be aware.

Bummer for my yachting club, it is on the Black River and we have 4 other yacht clubs comming in that weekend for a get together.

Good thing it's the Admirals B-day and she want to go to the Islands. I will not be within 30 miles of the Balck River.

I don’t understand the logic behind law enforcement giving the heads up.

The vehicle equivalent would be posting a sign that there is a speed trap ahead X miles. You would just slow down, get past the area then speed up.

What am I missing?

I think in the state of Ohio it is law that they give notice for any sobriety check.

They give you a heads up so you cannot play the "entrapment" card in the court room.
