I changed out the Salon TV in my boat a few days ago and am stumped.

There were the 3-RCA plugs for the DVD player, 1-power wire that is plugged in to an outlet, 1-antenna cable, and 2-more RCA plugs. These other 2-RCA plugs came from the "audio out" jacks on the old TV so I plugged them into the "audio out" jacks on the new TV. I would think they would connect to the Clarion CMD4 Stereo, but I cannot figure out how to play the TV through the stereo.

Any ideas before I tear back into it again and trace the wires?

Thanks,
Bennett

Should be an "aux" setting on the stereo.

You might have to go into the TV menu and see if you need to turn on the RCA out's

Other then that..... need to rundown the wires to make sure they are in the right spot.

Thanks! Been through the manual-no luck. Boat is new to me and never tried it out before.

I will take it apart tomorrow and follow the wires....
Thanks,
Bennett

Hi I do AV for a living-they are correct-just take the tv audio out rca and into any open analog rca source on your radio (aux, cd whatever) then tune radio to that source. If you only want dvd sound through the house audio and not the tv then you can run the audio out direct from the dvd to the stereo and just video to tv

on another note are your 3 cables from dvd components ? red green and blue? or composite red white and yellow?

You could be running components from the dvd player thus needing 5 rcas from the dvd . 3 for video and 3 for audio.

The audio out jacks from the TV should be red and white. They should be going to the Audio (aux) input on the radio. Those RCA jacks should also be red and white.

Sometimes you'll have to go into the TV settings menu and change the setup to use external audio instead of the speakers built into the TV. Some TVs won't play from both at the same time.

Thanks all! Yes the TV ports are red and white and there are red and white RCA plugs plugged in. I have tried the Aux on the stereo to no avail. I also turned off the TV speakers. I guess the next thing to do is to trace the wires from the RCA plugs and see for sure where they terminate.

Thanks again,
Bennett

Any chance there is an amplifier or "stereo" breker somewhere in your panel that you need to turn on for the audio? My boat has an amp for the cockpit speakers.

There is a stereo breaker on this boat just like our 260DA had. It is turned on. I haven't found an amp yet and I know there is one. I will investigate further. Dish network is coming tomorrow to install our dish and get us hooked up and I will look more then as we will need to open the cabinet back up.

Bennett, I have recently installed several tv's for myself and a couple others. The new tv's I have been working with typically don't have RCA outputs only inputs. The audio out is sent from the TV through a 3.5mm headphone port. You should check to see if there is headphone out and the use a 3.5mm to RCA adapter. They are only a couple dollars.

The other option is to connect the RCA's from the DVD player using the cable you had plugged into the TV. If you can hear the DVD, you know that the TV connections are the problem. Where do you keep your boat? If you are at Holiday, I'd be happy to take a look at it for you.

If you'll give us the make and model of the TV, I'd be happy to do some research for you to help solve this issue. I'm also in the AV business.

I found the problem today. The dish network tech showed up to install my dish at our slip. I had to remove the TV from the mount and go into the cabinet behind it. While there, I found the audio out wires I had attached to the TV as they were on the old one. The other end of them went nowhere.

I will look at this again tomorrow.

Thanks,
Bennett

Always fun.... I installed a Bluetooth tranmitter into the TV audio out jack and then sync'ed it to the stereo. No wires to worrry about.

I did the same on my 260DA. Issue can be that the transmitter and receiver have to be charged as they are powered.

I am going to do it this way and not need power.

Thoughts?
