Has anyone had any difficulties attaching a boat number plate to a PVC Dinghy?

I've got mine in the house, so the temperature is not an issue. Really seems to be a PITA to get it to adhere properly. I'm using the Polymarine one part PVC glue.

Is it just me?

I have had the hypalon version for 5 years. Putting it on is nerve wracking but not difficult. Just take care not to get glue outside the "lines".

I got the glue from WM and it was actually very simple to apply, as I recall about 20min job.

Couldn't you simply get cheap stencils and paint them on?

IMO, it would look, as you called it "cheap" and won't last too long. My number plate is about 3 yrs old.

I actually used two of those WM glue tubes. Took 20 mins to apply after both sides got tacky. I also used painters tape to mark the edge so I did not get too much glue squirting out the edges. Been two years and no problems...

OK. Think I may have tried to squeege it down tight and sqeezed out to much glue.

Alex, the one part glue is what you used?

Anyone have an issue with the state sticker sticking?

I don't remember exactly the name, but it was something a rep in my local WM store recommended. It was nothing special, just regular stuff they had for PVC type (about $20). It was a regular size tube. I remember that all I had to do is clean the surface (dinghy and the plates) with acetone, put the glue on both, wait 15 min for the glue to dry a bit and finally glue the plate on the dinghy. I don't even remember that I had to clean much, maybe just one or two small spots.

For PVC dinka you need one part. Not the more expensive two part glue...
