Ok guys,
Do me a favor. Get out there this weekend have a blast and bring back some stories with pictures so I can get vicarious boating fix.

By the way; where are you going?
Thanks

Todd- What did I miss? I thought you were almost all good to go on the 260 that you test rode a few weeks back that had the little mishap w/ the power steering pump....Fill us , er, me in....

I'll be boating down here on the mighty Columbia this weekend! Hopefully it won't rain.

I would love to attach photos but this feature seems to have been deleted with the new server.......

All the best,
Stuart[/img]

dont have my boat back yet. It is still being repaired and getting a new outdrive as well. Should get it after labor day weekend. Good thing I am going on a cruise

With some luck

I will finish re installing my after cooler/heat exchanger/marine gear oil cooler systems Saturday. I need to squeeze in time to get the thermo's swapped out as well and then sea trial for all this work.

So if any boating gets done ... it will be to test out the systems and determine if any operating improvements have been achieved.

Sorry no pictures ... no one likes to bee bloody knuckles!

I will be out all weekend on the boat. it's going to be hot as hell on sat so plenty of swimming will be in the forcast. then sat night I will decide whether or not to weather out the thunderstorms on the hook or in the marina. Last weekend was a bust due to weather and a quick run to the dog emergency room to mend a broken off nail. But now she's better and ready to swim. I will take some pics and maybe some video. I might even take off a few days during the week to make up for last weekend. Summer is almost over. I've found a spot to store the boat for the winter since Gary didn't offer to let me keep my boat at his dock, so now it's time for me to hit the 150hr mark on my engines before snot freezes to my upper lip.

I was out last week in the San Juans. I need to conseve gas, so I'll be going sailing on a J-35 in Tacoma. At least we'll be racing!

I just posted something for you read over in the Cruising section. At least someone will read it...

Well to all that are working their boats, good luck and no "Bloody knuckles".
Carpedmman - we decided to wait, be a bit more picky and find a boat that has been trailered or at least in fresh water it's whole life. We're targeting our boat show or shortly after (Jan-Feb)
Mike thanks, I look forward to it.
Tacoma, yeah at least you're going out. There's no wind though, seems like.

Gary, going to check it out now.................

Thanks guys

Well, with the weather yucky, we went to Blake Island for 2 days earlier in the week and are currently waiting for a friend from CO who is towing his Bayliner 242 to go up to Vancouver for two weeks. We will probably take him and his bride to Tillicum Village one day and I'll take him fishing on Sunday AM off Southworth for some silvers... In the mean time, my admiral has set us up with a tour of Bloedel Gardens this PM and a car show all day tomorrow to show iff my 56 tbird while I fish... what a life!!!

Here is his boat and the projects he has done: http://www.gpspowell.info/242.html

Gave me a few ideas to work with and he has taken some from me as well...

Todd, I can't help you with cruise pictures either. I am also grounded! Just finished replacing the gimbal bearing, and have the outdrive back on. Now I am working on installing a swim platform. Holes are drilled, still have a bit of cleaning off of bottom paint, maybe a small gel coat crack to repair, then get set to apply 4200 and bolt it together. I may bet it done today. If not, hopefully tomorrow. You should be here to help with this list, it would make you feel better:

Clean off wax where 4200 will be, platform and bottom transom extension.
Fix gel coat crack.
Clean bottom paint out of inner corners.
Clean up the gel coat surface at bottom line of platform.
Select bolts for each hole position. Make sure all bolts have anti-sieze compound. Make sure there are enough nuts.
Verify inner strap aligns OK with transom holes.
Do a practice install without glue to make sure we agree on process.

Notes:
4th vertical hole inside washer not solidly glued down
5th vertical hole inside nut seems still glued in place

Sorry, no boating here (tonight) as was planned, hopefully tomorrow. Boat washing and cleaning instead :smt013 At least its a picture, kind of.

You may still end up needing some. I had 'enough total', but not all the right lengths. Don't remember exactly what I had to go get but about 4 of them were too short.

Good luck!

Sorry, no pics, but the family went out today... about 10-15 miles off-shore. Was looking for deep water to test the transducer for the new Garmin... unfortunately, didn't hit the 100 foot they recommended. Still tested it at several depths and it works well in a very easy place to mount  Dolphin were very playful and jumping along next to the boat. Travelled back inland and let the kids tube a bit up a spring-fed river and then high-tailed it back to the ramp before the storm hit. It was a good 5 hours on the water. If the forcast changes, may go out tomorrow as well.

Hope I was descriptive enough to paint a picture... *and didnt have any issues with the boat this time

Yes, you are right. I have a special talent. I found out earlier the bolts provided were not adequate, and bought more. I assembled the whole thing 'dry' this evening, before final assembly to verify everything, and still got it wrong! Had one bolt that should have been a half inch longer, but put it together anyway. Not sure if if it was hidden by the wire loom on test and I just did not spot it, or I had the bolts in a different pattern that worked.

Todd, you missed a great evening working here with my brother-in-law installing a 270 DA swim platform. We both really enjoyed it. This was just the final assembly, I had quite a few hours of prep work into it.

I don't have the option to upload images when I hit the reply button. I have a bunch of great pics from this weekend too.

We went to Lake Pend Oreille and had a great time. We cruised up the Clark Fork River and caught some perch and bass. The wind whipped up pretty good yesterday and continued to blow hard all day long. It was a long trip back to the boat launch but the kids loved looking up at the cuddy hatch and watching the water as we stuffed the nose numerous times in the huge waves! It was great fun! I had somewater to remove when we got back, but it was well worth it. The kids also played on the beach where the huge waves were slamming them. That was great fun too! I took a few pictures and I'll see if I can post them later when I find the camera!!

We spent the night at the Bell Harbor Marina (has a view of Seattle) Friday, somehow was able to find a place for all four girls to spend the night (and not join us), took my wife to Anthony's that overlooks the marina and then off to the Comedy Underground, the next morning we went through the locks to the Lake Union Sea Ray so they could fix everything that broke on our last trip to Nanaimo. Headed north about 3PM to see an amazing show going through the Ballard locks by the Salmon that were obviously happy to have made it back to fresh water, after that it was off to Everett for a nice hour long cruise. Found the boat's top speed from Mukilteo to Everett and opened it up for the first time.

We he 42.9 by GPS with two adults, half fuel, no water or waste. That was the fastest that I have ever been behind the wheel in a boat.

The weekend reminded me why I like boating.

Sounds like you guys are having fun! I have to make it to Seattle one of these days. How long until the rain settles in? So, it looks like the 280 with 496 Mag is a couple if MPH faster than my old 270 with 454.

Sundancer, I lost my camera too. Grandkids are here for a week, and found the camera outside in the grass by the garden. :smt013

weeee, went out all weekend and survived a squal. Out of no where you could hear what sounded like a train coming and then bam... boat bouncing all over the place. I let out more anchor line and it held. Today we spent most of the day dodging thunderstorms successfully. Then we had our picture taken by a helicopter. Boatpix.com

Now I have to decide if I want to spend the $250 for a pic of my boat from the air.... :smt017 my hair was a mess....

Back to the boat monday night for a couple more days of nice weather.
