Armada transmission

personally I wish my truck was 4 wheel drive sometimes the back tires get a little wet specially when the tide is gone out and I have to go deeper with the trailer to get the boat on, if I had 4wd it sure would make me feel better.

Bill, glad that the dealer is taking responsibility.

Oh shat. My wife decided she want to keep her Honda van for 200,000 miles. She got "brilliant" advice from a motorhead at work that the most important thing to do was get the transmission flushed. Problem: The van has 87,000 miles on it. Despite me telling her it wasn't necessary, she had it done anyway. Guess I'll just wait for the transmission to fail

No! Don't wait for it to fail. Change the fluid often and frequently. You need to drop the pan NOW. Drop it again tomorrow and the day after and then again after 100 miles or a week. As the new fluid scours the trans, you want to catch the debris and drain it out before it causes problems.

Best regards,

Just out of curiosity, if the hose broke and fluid leaked out, is it possible that the trans was run low on fluid and that's what caused it to get smoked?

Unless the Xterra just refuses to move, don't put it in 4LO on pavement. You could up tearing up the driveline and transfer case, especially with all that weight on the back.

Update...the xterra was absolutely fine pulling and stopping. Well, ok, going on the uphill away from the boat ramp to my house was a tiny bit strenuous on the xterra...it is pretty much uphill for the mile and half until you get to our block.

But braking was nothing at all, I guess due in great part to dual surge brakes on the trailer...never once felt the trailer push my truck.

At the boat ramp, as extra precautions I used tire chucks to help the ebrake and tranny out when launching, and I put it in 4h to pull it out.

ALl in all, was fine. I now know that if my wife has her truck and I want to take a run by myself, I feel very confidewnt about just whipping down there in the xterra.

I would NOT use it for long term trailering, however. Locally fine.
